This morning at the #EDAXperience2025 Conference, Rick Christiaanse, C.Dir, CEO of Invest Alberta, delivered a powerful keynote that reminded us: Alberta isn't just a part of Canada's economic story - we're writing the next chapter. This week, Team Alberta came together with one mission: power up the next wave of investment. A big thanks to our partners who show up, collaborate, and take action. Because when Alberta teams up, we don't play small. 🔑 Top takeaways from Rick’s keynote: 1. Alberta is open for business. The time to act? Right now. 2. Investment is still happening. Why? Because Alberta’s value isn’t just a pitch — it’s proof. 3. Regions to double down on what they are good at – this makes Alberta unstoppable. The world is watching. We're showing up with bold ideas, unmatched potential, and a plan to win. #InvestAlberta #TeamAlberta #LeadwithAction #AlbertaAdvantage #EconomicGrowth

Congratulations to TotalEnergies on the acquisition of the Big Sky Solar project from RES. A global leader in renewable energy, TotalEnergies is advancing its mission to become one of the top five renewable electricity producers by 2030, and Alberta is part of that journey. As part of a series of international acquisitions, TotalEnergies has now closed the acquisition of Big Sky Solar, a 184 MW facility developed by RES, located near Acadia Valley, Alberta. The project will power over 42,000 homes and support clean energy jobs in rural Alberta. In addition, TotalEnergies has signed agreements with RES to acquire wind and solar projects under development in Alberta, adding over 800 MW of future renewable capacity to the province. Alberta’s supportive investment climate makes it a strategic location for energy developments. As the province continues to diversify its energy economy, projects like these demonstrate Alberta's strong potential for sustainable growth. 📄 Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/eMzA7C_T #InvestAlberta #RenewableEnergy #TotalEnergies #Alberta

🌎 Alberta’s renewable energy sector continues to gain momentum, attracting global players and accelerating economic diversification across the province. Recent activities in Alberta paint a clear picture: Metlen Energy & Metals established its Canadian headquarters in Calgary in late 2024, with plans to develop 1.4 GW of solar across Alberta. That's a $1.7B investment supporting over 1,500 jobs and advancing utility-scale solar in the region. Korkia, a Finland-based investment firm, joined Invest Alberta, Business Finland and the Finnish-Canadian Business Council earlier this year on a panel to discuss cleantech opportunities in Alberta, highlighting the province’s global appeal for innovative, cross-border collaboration. EDP Renewables’ Sharp Hills Wind Farm, now operational in eastern Alberta, represents a $600M investment and the largest single-phase wind project in the company’s North American portfolio. It created 400+ jobs and brought long-term economic vitality to rural communities. These projects underscore a broader trend: Alberta is a destination of choice for renewable energy investment — not only for its natural advantages but also for the partnerships, policy, and infrastructure that make global-scale innovation possible. Invest Alberta continues to connect investors with opportunities that power long-term growth and energy leadership. #InvestAlberta #CleanEnergy #Renewables

Invest Alberta's COO, Keith Bradley, joined industry and economic development leaders at EDA Xperience 2025 on a panel discussion to spotlight Alberta’s growing global role in the energy, petrochemicals, and renewables sectors. From leading the country in renewable growth to pioneering carbon capture and launching the world’s first net-zero ethylene cracker, Alberta’s energy story is one of innovation, resilience, and investment opportunity. Keith shared how Alberta’s strong fundamentals - natural resources, skilled talent, supportive policy, and competitive incentives - make it a top-tier destination for global investment. Thanks to fellow panelists Gregory Caldwell (ATCO Gas & Pipelines), Lisa Sweet, MBA (Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development & Tourism), and Craig Werner (Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA)), with Benjamin Young moderating. If you’re looking for where the future of energy is being built - look to Alberta. Let’s talk opportunity. Let’s talk Alberta. #InvestInAlberta #EDA2025 #CleanEnergy #Petrochemicals #CarbonCapture #EnergyTransition #AlbertaAdvantage #FDI #Infrastructure #Renewables Economic Developers Alberta (EDA)

The panel emphasized Alberta’s strong investment track record—nearly $28 billion in investment attracted to the province and 34,000 new jobs created over the past five years. A key example is the 2022 entry of Mphasis, an India-based technology leader, into Alberta’s growing tech sector. With guidance from Invest Alberta, Mphasis established operations in Calgary, creating over 1,000 high-value technology jobs and accelerating innovation in the province.
