Yesterday was a fantastic day at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew for the Innovate UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Innovation in Environmental Monitoring (IEM) programme. The event brought together all the 20 grant-winning projects to connect, collaborate, and explore. Without claiming favourites, I found the bee cameras and the origami sensors mind-blowing. Lots of superb speakers and debates including those from Gideon Henderson, Louise Heathwaite CBE FRS, Dr Lynsay Blake, Helen Edmundson. I feel very lucky to be part of this programme, along with Bluemethane's own Kartik, together with our brilliant team at Cranfield University, led by Jane Hodgkinson, Paul Lighterness, Bruce Jefferson, C.J Varghese, Tito.

🧪 Ambitious for impact 🎯 Last week, we gathered over 25 ambitious PhD and doctoral community members from Cranfield and our partner universities for Ideas to Innovation i2i 2025. Over 3 days, delegates were inspired and fired up from meeting successful Cranfield-supported spin outs, learning and developing entrepreneurial skills and being pushed out of their comfort zone. Understanding the lab to market journey is crucial for any researcher, regardless of the path chosen, as the mindset and skills required are key to success. Thank you to our Programme Lead Orsolya Ihasz, PhD, and Shailendra Vyakarnam for their energy and unwavering enthusiasm.
