A £50bn boost to the economy by 2055. 8,000 local jobs once open. All from a multimillion-pound investment that will see one of the largest visitor attractions in Europe find its home in Bedfordshire. A new world class theme park, from US firm Universal Studios, is set to open in 2031 - and is expected to attract 8m visitors in its first year alone. We’re giving the whole of the UK automotive industry the additional certainty and support it needs as we set out new plans to back industry. The Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate will be changed to make it easier for industry to upgrade to make electric vehicles, alongside more support to help working people make the switch to EVs. The package is part of the forthcoming Industrial Strategy - helping UK businesses realise the potential of the industries of the future, while making the UK increasingly more attractive to overseas investors.

This is a huge vote of confidence in the #UK economy, building on the £126bn UK-Asia Pacific trade relationship and the UK's recent ratification of CPTPP. 💼📈We are making it quicker, easier, and more profitable to do business with the UK, including through the upcoming Industrial Strategy. NEWS: Fake reviews and unavoidable hidden fees that cost consumers £2.2bn every year are now banned ✅ We’re clamping down on unfair trading practices to protect consumers and ensure a more level playing field for businesses. The new consumer rights come alongside the start of new powers for the Competition and Markets Authority, which will now be able to investigate cases that appear to break the law without being forced to spend months waiting in the courts. Businesses that don’t comply could be issued with penalties of up to 10% of their global revenues.

When Catriona’s son Samuel was born 10 weeks premature, he was taken into neonatal intensive care where he spent the next two critical months. While Catriona was using her maternity leave – not to spend precious time with Samuel at home, but in hospital – her partner also had to face a difficult decision. Should he use up his two weeks of paternity leave to be by his son’s side? Or return to work, leaving Catriona alone. As new rights to neonatal care leave and pay come into effect on 6th April, we asked Catriona to share her story – and why she founded The Smallest Things to support others and campaign for the new rights👇 Working Families | Bliss
