  • 📢 Calling all research agencies! Have you submitted your nominations for the AURAs 2025 Innovation of the Year Award yet? Don't miss out! 📅 The deadline for nominations is Friday 11th April What we're looking for ✅ Here at AURA we think about innovation as anything that helps deliver better insights or deliver insights better. ✅ Our members are clientside market researchers. So it's the things that help them do better work or work better that will resonate. Technology plays a role but this doesn't need to be high tech. ✅ Previous winners include Verve with their AI personas, Flood & Partners who offered a better way to design questionnaires and Stravito who help companies organise their research libraries better. ✅ We'd love to hear about the best ideas in everything from generative AI to ethnography, from data analytics to storytelling, or in fact anything innovative you’ve been developing or delivering! Ready to nominate your agency? You'll need to tell us about your innovation in 250 words or less, explain the principal benefits of this innovation compared with established methods, and describe the business questions or sectors that might find this innovation particularly useful. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of AURA judges, and finalists will be confirmed by the end of April. We'll hold the final for this award on Wednesday 4th June 2025 at 9am-11am online. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to give a short presentation on your innovation to an audience of AURA members. The audience will be asked to rate each presentation, and the highest scoring agency will be our winner. The winner will be announced at The AURAs Awards on Thursday 17th July, at the Kia Oval in London. This research is a collaboration between AURA, the Market Research Society (MRS) and the Insight Management Academy (IMA), sponsored by Opinium, as we all want to support people in clientside roles to develop and succeed. (You may be invited by more than one of the organisations, but you only need to fill it in once.)     What a treat it was to be together with AURA members at the RAF Club in London last week. The day flew by with 4 Award Winner presentations, followed by a Working Well Together panel and discussion. 🏆 First up, winners of the MRS/AURA Award for Activation of Research, Amanda P. and Chris Espley of NFU Mutual, and Adele Mann and Aimee Welsh of Fineline Market Research shared their work on re-imagining mid-size corporate businesses as 'human decision makers'. They created 4 personas and engaged decision makers at all levels with an internal comms campaign that included a podcast, physical signage, video of customers and a Viva Engage community 🏆 Winners of the AQR Qualitative Excellence Award, Maxine W. of Ancestry and Sarah Jenkins of Magenta Research, took us around the world with a journey for the senses! The taste of Stroopwafels, Mexican chilli powder and the fresh smell of pine oil transported us to 3 of the 8 new global markets that they researched, using local moderators to truly understand the historical context and other nuances that shape how people feel about looking into their family history 🏆 Winners of the MRS B2B Network Award for B2B Research, Greg Absalom of Workspace Group and Octavia Broughton of Opinium, shared their work to understand 'the cultural context of office life'. For example, how the fading out of 'hustle culture' and a shift towards more sustainable ways of working have driven changes in what business owners want from a flexible modern work space 🏆 And finally, winners of the Jeremy Bullmore Award for Creative Development, Ministry of Justice UK and Carol McNaughton Nicholls and Talia Coroniti of Thinks Insight & Strategy, gave us a fascinating - and perhaps surprising - insight into what if feels like to work in a prison. Their work helped to shape the first ever recruitment campaign for prison staff which drove a 200% increase in views of the jobs home page, and 138% increase in applications After our buffet lunch, we got stuck in to a hosted discussion about the Working Well Together Charter, led by Becki Jarvis and Nick Rich. Firstly, our panel of AURA members, Georgia Lewin, Nicola Stevens and Rosemary Hadden shared the first steps they have taken to apply the 6 principles of the charter since signing up as clientside supporters. Then we gathered in small groups to discuss practical ways that clientside teams and agencies can get started on working well together.
