About us
Championing sustainable workplaces. At ISS, we are championing sustainable workplaces. Why? Because now, more than ever, we are all having to come to terms with the impact our actions have on our environment, and on the wellbeing of each other. We have a shared responsibility to protect and support each other, to stimulate prosperity and reverse our negative impact on the planet. And organisations that utilise the built environment and draw upon the skills of large workforces, can make a real difference. Doing so, requires vision, determination, and the strength to lead by example. That’s why, since our formation in 1901, ISS has proudly championed working environments in which people can develop and thrive. That’s why we ensure our people benefit from strong welfare packages, training and support to build their skills base, and foster a culture of safety and belonging. That’s why sustainability and decarbonisation are core to how we operate, what we constantly seek out, and what we help you deliver to meet your sustainability agenda. That’s why we set ourselves ambitious net zero carbon targets that extend right through to our entire supply chain - and we have a plan to achieve them. That’s why we are taking the lead on Sustainable Workplaces, which means leveraging our profound knowledge and experience of how varied workplaces operate day-to-day, to plan for the big picture (the E, the S and the G), and implement targeted change, at every level, from the ground up. Because we know that our success influences our customers, and we must work together to turn negative impact into positive gain, to support each other, to stimulate prosperity, and to assure future generations.

I always tell people that, at ISS, #safety is our #PriorityZero — it comes *before* everything we do and informs every decision/action we take, and I’m proud to see the UK & Ireland leading the conversation on safety at ISS through our new #SafeChoice programme, underpinned by our commitments that: 1️⃣ We do it safely or we don’t do it… 2️⃣ We look out for each other, and… 3️⃣ We learn from mistakes and celebrate success. Last week, we certainly celebrated success at the 2nd annual #FoodSafetyAwards at our office in London, coming together to recognise excellence in food safety and those teams and individuals who are championing a safety culture within our food business. Huge congratulations go to all the worthy winners, but I wanted to shout out a few of them, in particular, for some brilliant work… 🏆 Yetunde Ade, Education – Area Manager of the Year Yetunde has fostered a strong food safety culture, achieving excellent scores and compliance improvements across her schools, with well-organized documentation, thorough logbook checks, and prompt action plan returns. 🏆 Kulvinder Kaur, Education – Kitchen Manager of the Year Kulvinder is a conscientious kitchen manager, keeping food safety at the heart of their work, with meticulous attention to special diets, maintaining a spotless kitchen, excellent logbook standards, and swift action on recommendations. 🏆 Nigel Watson, Healthcare – Patient Catering Manager of the Year Nigel is an experienced manager on one of our major healthcare contracts, responsible for maintaining excellent food safety standards for over 1,000 patients each day, enthusiastically supporting our food safety initiatives and going above and beyond as a food safety ambassador. 🏆 Bethany Brown, Healthcare – Retail Manager of the Year Bethany has transformed food safety compliance at her healthcare site, maintaining consistently high standards, actively seeking advice and taking recommendations from our central food safety team, and confidently challenging non-compliant actions and behaviors around food safety practices. 🏆 Gemma Powell, Banking – Catering Manager of the Year Gemma has become a genuine expert in food safety, maintaining excellent standards, promptly addressing issues, supporting other ISS sites, and recently passing her Level 4 Food Safety program with merit. If we all follow the example of these extraordinary people, we’ll ensure that ISS remains the industry leader in safety — congratulations once again to all our winners and teams for everything they do to keep our colleagues, customers and communities safe. #InspiringISS #HSEQ #FoodSafety #HealthAndSafety #Awards #Winning Martin Burholt Donna Brown Alistair Dale Andrew Wilkinson Nicola Morris Lindsay Carter

By now, many of you know how passionate I am about developing new talent — it's how we deliver on our mission to make space for people and businesses to thrive. That's why I couldn't be prouder to celebrate #NationalSupportedInternshipsDay today, recognising the remarkable contributions of our team members who have joined our teams through these placements. One such remarkable young man is Cormack Mylchreest, who I had the pleasure of meeting today at our office in London. Cormack is part of our portering team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a role he discovered through a supported internship with our friends at DFN Project SEARCH — a charitable organisation that enables young adults with learning disabilities to transition from education into meaningful, permanent employment. Since joining the team at Chelsea & Westminster, Cormack has been an uplifting presence, demonstrating unwavering dedication and heartfelt commitment to helping others. His inspiring work ethic and winning personality recently earned him ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the MyPorter Awards last month. His win even caught the attention of major UK media, being interviewed on both Sky News and BBC News about his accomplishments and demonstrating the power of supported internships in empowering people with disabilities to follow their career aspirations. We are proud to work with Project SEARCH and other organisations to offer supported internship opportunities across many of our client sites across the UK — particularly within the NHS. By creating career pathways for outstanding talent like Cormack, we can tap into the extraordinary skills, ambition and potential of this underrepresented part of our workforce. It's just one way ISS is connecting people and places to make the world work better. Congratulations again to Cormack on his very well-deserved achievement — we can't wait to see what you do next! #NSID2025 #APlaceToBeYou #CompanyOfBelonging #BecomeWhatYouWant #BePartOfSomethingBigger Martin Burholt Donna Brown Bamba Kogo
