Wrapping up an eventful week for the WavEC team! 🥵 💨 This week, Marco Alves, Ana Brito e Melo, Francisco Correia da Fonseca, Inês Machado, José J. Cândido, and Mario Alberto Vieira traveled to #Copenhagen to attend the WindEurope 2025 conference and exhibition, where they had the opportunity to showcase WavEC's services and projects while enjoying great moments with the wind sector community! 🐟 Meanwhile, Pedro Vinagre and Miguel Amado took part in the BAMBOO Project expert workshop in #Brussels, organised by the European Marine Board IVZW. Together with other experts, they explored the potential environmental and social impacts of large-scale offshore solar and wind development. 🔬🎤 Back in Portugal, Filipa Madureira participated in the SciComPt 2025 conference held on the beautiful island of #Madeira. This event brought together science communicators from different scientific fields and institutions to discuss hot topics, share common challenges, and showcase the latest projects and initiatives in science communication. It plays a key role in fostering collaboration and stronger connections within the community, and in strengthening the role of science communication in bringing the public closer to science. 🎂 Last but not least, our #Lisbon office celebrated Riccardo Meda’s birthday with the traditional “bolinho”. WavEC welcomed the MEGA WAVE PTO Project consortium to its office in Lisbon on March 20th and 21st for a highly productive and engaging progress meeting. 🌊 European Ocean Days 2025 Had a great experience representing WavEC - Offshore Renewables at the #EuropeanOceanDays event in Brussels last week! The week kicked off with a joint workshop organised by the CLIMAREST and A-AAGORA - Atlantic Arctic Agora projects, where we focused on the feasibility of different restoration actions, strategies for promoting community involvement and stakeholder engagement, and methods for evaluating the benefits and success of marine #restoration activities. Key discussions throughout the event were truly insightful. One standout session was the #MissionRestoreourOceanandWatersForum, where it was explored how local authorities, regions, and the private sector are collaborating to implement the Mission’s goals. It was also exciting to see how funding sources are being mobilised to accelerate the expansion and implementation of ocean restoration solutions. Other important sessions included #workshops on harmonising KPIs for a unified Mission Ocean and addressing business models, regulations, and financial ecosystems. The event also highlighted local initiatives in the session #EmpoweringLocalChangemakers, where it was explored ways to strengthen collaboration between stakeholders and empower local groups to take action on the ground.
