  • Our video series #WindWorksForEurope is back! This time we are focusing on drivetrain manufacturing. WindEurope’s Phil Cole travels to Voerde, Germany to interview Flender Group CEO Andreas Evertz. Flender is a globally leading manufacturer of gearboxes and drivetrains for modern wind turbines. They employ 4,000 staff across the EU. 📺 Do you want to learn more about their technology, expansion prospects and sector-specific challenges? Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eM_cJ4fU

  • Indeed great news for Europe‘s clean tech manufacturing, Kerstin Jorna. 🇪🇺 We have visited NKT in Karlskrona just some months ago. 📺 You can watch the recording in Episode 5 of our #WindWorksForEurope series here: https://lnkd.in/g7DjTxSz

Ready for some GOOD news? #Europe 🇪🇺 The expansion of NKT's high-voltage power cable factory in Karlskrona, Sweden, is now the FIRST net-zero strategic project under the EU #NetZeroIndustryAct! 🥇 This important net-zero strategic project is set to become the world's largest factory for high-voltage offshore power cables, ensuring the expansion and interconnection of our power grid. It will help achieve the ambitious targets set by the NZIA: enhancing manufacturing capacities, clean industry resilience, and fostering EU strategic autonomy. Looking to place your project at the leading edge of Europe’s transition? Apply for strategic project status now⤵️ https://lnkd.in/eXsH-FBD NZIA strategic projects receive national priority status for accelerated administrative treatment, faster permitting, and the option to get financing advice under the Net-Zero Europe Platform. Together, we are building the foundations for a strong, clean European industry. #CleanIndustrialDeal #NZIA

🇪🇺 Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness - European Commission

🇩🇰🇪🇺I could not miss the opportunity to visit the Annual WindEurope Event 2025 in Copenhagen during my country-visit.   Wind energy already covers 20% of Europe’s electricity demand and it’s set to become the backbone of our energy system. But to power the clean transition, we also need a strong talent base.   Today, I met with students, businesses, public and private partners to talk about how we can work together to close the skills gap in the clean energy sector.   We’ll need 600,000 wind energy workers in Europe by 2030, and up to 3.5 million in renewables overall. That means new opportunities not only for engineers and scientists, but also architects, data analysts, economists, and many others.   Through the #UnionOfSkills, the Commission is building a new governance model, bringing together education, training providers, businesses, and social partners to deliver the skills we need for a just and green transition.   #CommissionerOfThePeople

The Ukrainian energy system is under relentless attack. But the Ukrainians continue to build new wind energy to keep the lights on. Ukrainian utility DTEK is currently working on the 400 MW expansion of the Tyligulska wind farm – it will be the largest wind farm built in Eastern Europe in a decade! Construction is set to be finished next year. Denmark is playing a crucial role in enabling this success. To learn more, I spoke to Green Power Denmark CEO Kristian Jensen #WindEurope2025

At #WindEurope2025, RGI and OCEaN – Offshore Coalition for Energy and Nature didn’t just attend as exhibitors and participants, we made waves! With three days of insightful discussions, panels, birdwatching (yes, really), and deep dives into strategic planning and sustainability criteria for offshore wind auctions, our message was clear: offshore renewable energy must go hand-in-hand with nature protection, restoration, and community inclusion. 🦞At our 'Beyond Turbines' side event, the room was buzzing with ideas. Here’s a glimpse of what stood out: 🗺️ Planning with purpose: From the upcoming European Ocean Pact to region-wide learnings between the North and Baltic Seas, the call was for deeper, multi-level cooperation. As Ariel Brunner from BirdLife Europe and Central Asia put it, sensitivity mapping must be the baseline—not the bonus. ⚖️ Auctions with ambition: Belgium’s offshore tendering now encourages and weighs stakeholder engagement and nature enhancement alongside cost. Lori Anna Conzo from the IFC - International Finance Corporation reminded us that in emerging markets, strong environmental standards are in fact already part of good financing. 🪸 Projects putting nature first: Ørsted, DTU Aqua, and WWF Verdensnaturfonden / WWF Denmark's BioReef restoration of oysters and horse mussels can be a blueprint for bringing back marine habitats. And fish hotels, eco-crossings, and biohuts? TenneT Netherlands and ECOCEAN's work acts as proof that offshore grids can be designed with nature in mind. 💬 “We need to do everything at once,” said Antonella Battaglini, CEO of RGI. “The transition is urgent—but not at the expense of ecosystems. Collaboration is how we move fast and fair.” 🔗 Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eCfPURuy

  • Experiencing Europe’s path to energy security live at Kriegers Flak On the sidelines of #WindEurope2025, Lithuanian Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas and Belgian Ambassador Geert Muylle met with leading wind industry representatives to visit Vattenfall’s 600 MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm. Kriegers Flak is a role model for stepping up Europe’s electricity interconnection. It’s the continent’s first hybrid offshore wind farm. This means it can send electricity both to the German and Danish grids, depending on their demand. Stepping up electricity interconnection between European countries is crucial for boosting energy security. It allows energy to be sent to where needed most, keeping grids reliable. We look forward to many more hybrid offshore wind farms going online in the coming years! Thank you to Vattenfall for making this impressive visit possible. #WindEurope2025 Day 3 Opening: European wind industry calls for 'New Offshore Wind Deal for Europe' Today Europe’s wind industry proposed a new deal to speed up and de-risk the build-out of homegrown and competitive offshore wind energy. The proposal calls on European Governments to auction at least 100 GW of new offshore wind over 2031-2040. Crucially these auctions should use two-sided Contracts for Difference. The offshore build-out should be more coordinated among European countries and be distributed more evenly over time. At the Opening Session this morning WindEurope Vice-Chairman and Ørsted CEO Rasmus Errboe stressed that the industry needed: "Predictability, predictability, and predictability". 📉 Predictability on volumes and revenues will ensure offshore wind plays its role in delivering Europe’s energy objectives. The industry commits to reducing the cost of offshore wind by 30% by 2040. 🔗 Read our press release with the industry proposal for a 'New Offshore Wind Deal for Europe' https://lnkd.in/e96rHqqQ
