We enable a sustainable future for water

Om os

There is no substitute for water. Future development will depend on how water can be managed and shared, climate change adaptation can be implemented and water quality improved. DHI has been committed to advancing and sharing knowledge of water environments for over half a century. Every day, our 1,100 engineers and other specialists work within the entire water cycle to support decision-makers in the global water industry. From developing offshore wind farms, to safeguarding cities from flooding, protecting shorelines from erosion and enriching biodiversity in water. Our decades of domain expertise, advanced technologies and unique modelling software are the building blocks of our solutions. Together with our clients and partners, we innovate new ways to use, manage and live with water and protect water-related ecosystems. Our long-standing partnerships across sectors, from private companies to UN agencies and academic institutions, allow us to extend our impact on positive global development. We enable a sustainable future for water.

  • The Global Wetland Watch team recently completed a 10-day field trip to South Africa, focused on advancing global initiatives for wetland management and restoration. By collaborating with local experts and stakeholders, the team is refining the platform to provide data-driven solutions that not only address national wetland challenges but also support global policy reporting. This will help nations fulfill their international commitments and advance efforts toward the protection, restoration and sustainable management of wetlands at all levels. 📖Read more about the trip and the importance of South Africa wetlands here:  https://lnkd.in/dw6qpAS7 #Wetlands #Biodiversity #GlobalWetlandWatch

This collaborative effort aims to help the Park Board reimagine nearly 20 km of shoreline to be more resilient, accessible, inclusive and climate-ready. The project involves assessing coastal hazard vulnerabilities, conducting detailed numerical modelling and developing high-level shoreline design typologies. These designs will incorporate architectural landscape renderings, cost estimates and where possible, innovative nature-based solutions—all with the goal of creating more accessible and adaptable public spaces that can withstand the pressures of a changing climate. The final plan will help guide future capital investments and maintenance priorities across Vancouver’s shoreline parks. Our colleagues Mikael Kamp Sørensen and Caroline Tessier are now in Paris, representing DHI as part of the Danish delegation at the state visit to France. The event was kicked off yesterday with a welcome briefing for all participants at the beautiful Maison du Danemark in Paris, where the participants introduced themselves and their companies. The state visit has three focus themes: Defence, Health and Energy, and DHI is in the Energy track. For over 30 years, DHI has contributed to more than 80% of all built offshore wind farms worldwide, starting with the world's first offshore wind farm in Denmark. We see renewable energy as an indispensable part of a resilient future. Mikael and Caroline will be taking part in several energy-focused sessions and roundtable discussions during the next couple of days. The heading of the event is ‘France-Denmark: A European partnership for a resilient future’. The event is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the Ambassade du Danemark en France – The Danish Embassy in France together with the organisations Danish Industry, the Danish Chamber of Commerce Dansk Erhverv and Danish Shipping. #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind #SectorCoupling #Partnerships #Resilience #danishstatevisit2025 State of Green Denmark Photo credit: Julien Mouffron-Gardner and Emmanuel Aguirre

In some areas, existing systems, designed for a different era and needs, must be adapted to address urban development and certain impacts of climate change, such as increasing pressure on water resources. Faced with rising demand, issues of water losses within the network and the challenge of optimising distribution in areas with varied topography, the city decided to adopt a sustainable water management approach.
