We are delighted to have the Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) and Temasek Trust come together to catalyse research for an innovative non-invasive ultrasound-based cancer therapy in Southeast #Asia. The joint S$12 million commitment from LKSF and #TemasekTrust — disbursed through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) managed by TT Foundation Advisors — will support the donation of one Histotripsy System each to Singapore’s two leading cancer centres. This is the first of such to be available in Southeast Asia. The funding will also support a clinical trial in Singapore for patients with liver, kidney, and pancreatic cancers, slated to commence later this year. Such philanthropic-public-private #partnerships are key to accelerating #healthcare innovation for important cancers and improving patient outcomes in Singapore and beyond. Through the DAF, we aim to attract additional philanthropic capital from more donors to sustainably support the next phase of cancer research. This is in line with TTFA’s commitment to delivering impactful solutions at scale by supporting donors on their collaborative journey of giving. We are privileged to work alongside National Cancer Centre Singapore and National University Cancer Institute, Singapore to support clinical research and trials to use this novel technology, and look forward to scaling the #impact of this initiative through more partnerships. • Mr. Dickson Lim, Head of TT Foundation Advisors, recently spoke on a panel at the first Alumni Conference of the Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN), managed by Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) and supported by Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The conference gathered thought leaders, industry experts, and the SGLN community to discuss critical issues impacting the future of Singapore. Titled “Are family offices and philanthropy the next big thing?”, the panel was moderated by Prof Annie Koh, PhD, Emeritus Professor of Finance (Practice) at Singapore Management University and featured fellow panellists Ms. Weiling Chua, CEO of One Hill Capital and Mr. Edmund Joseph Twohill, Executive Director and Co-Founder of ImpactSG - Gateway to Giving.   Key takeaways:  ▪️ There is growing interest not just in giving more, but giving better. Greater access to professional philanthropy advisory, highly curated programmes, and social networks can help family offices, businesses, and individuals deepen their impact through more focused and informed giving. ▪️ Partnerships facilitate learning that benefits the impact ecosystem at large. In Asia, cross-border collaborations can generate more Asian-focused data and approaches to giving. ▪️ Family offices must evolve with community and social needs, alongside honouring legacies of giving. Clear communication within families is key and it is important to engage the next generation by instilling purpose and equipping them early to evaluate and sustain impact. ▪️ Creating sustainable change requires going beyond cheque-writing – philanthropists must be willing to invest their time and talents to deepen impact.   Ultimately, the goal is to create a culture of giving that is sustainable, collaborative, and impactful. Thank you to SGLN for the opportunity to share, and our fellow panellists for a most fruitful exchange! • It has been an awesome first year for TTFA! We are deeply grateful for all the support we received from Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and its Office of Commissioner of Charities, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), as well as the numerous wealth management institutions who have encouraged us with your generous support and partnerships, to enable us to fulfil our mandate to build the ecosystem of philanthropy advisory and management services, both in Singapore and across Asia. ✨GRATITUDE FOR 2024 MILESTONES ✨ Since the April launch of TT Foundation Advisors, Temasek Trust’s #PhilanthropyAdvisory services arm, the past few months have been nothing short of eventful. Our key milestones included: 1. Obtaining our IPC status to issue 250% tax deductions for Singapore donations. 2. Receiving approval as a tax-exempt NPO to curate overseas grants and innovative impact-funding models to scale and catalyse impact. 3. Being appointed as a Qualifying Local Intermediary (QLI) in MAS’ Philanthropy Tax Incentive Scheme (PTIS) to issue 100% Singapore tax deductions for donations to anywhere globally. 4. Onboarding our first clients for donor-advised funds, for foundation management services, and for 3rd party succession. 5. Establishing strategic partnerships across Asia and globally, not just to provide tax benefits in the respective countries, but to also pool together the collective expertise and resources of our partners, to provide unparalleled access to global charitable programmes, thereby expanding the reach and impact of our clients’ generosity. It has been exhilarating, to say the least. I am heartened to have an experienced and purpose-driven team onboard, advancing our mission to become a trusted partner to philanthropists, private foundations, family offices, and corporate foundations. We are grateful to our clients and partners for their trust and look forward to deepening our work and achieving even greater collective impact together. More exciting developments will be unveiled in the new year, so stay tuned! As we dedicate the rest of the year to reflection, recalibration, and recharging, we wish all our friends and partners in Singapore and across the world a restful year-end, a Blessed Christmas, and a fantastic New Year! 😊🙏

  • As wealth grows rapidly in #Asia, donors are increasingly seeking more structured and collaborative forms of giving to increase their #impact. Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are emerging as one such effective vehicle to manage charitable contributions and facilitate family legacy planning for Chinese-speaking donors. Mr. Dickson Lim, Head of TT Foundation Advisors, recently shared about this with delegates from charity foundations, family offices, consulting firms, and public welfare organisations at the inaugural Philanthropy Advisors Training Programme, organised by the Business & Philanthropy Forum and the Global DAF Forum. Setting up a DAF in Singapore offers a strategic approach to #philanthropy, allowing donors to steward generational wealth and boost cross-border giving while maximising tax benefits. With the support of the Temasek Trust ecosystem, TTFA aims to be a one-stop provider of philanthropic advisory and management services — from strategic planning and programme curation to governance and impact management — to help clients deliver meaningful solutions to the communities they care deeply about. Interested parties can find out more by reaching out to contact@ttfa.sg. We are grateful to Global DAF Forum for the invite and look forward to working with more partners across the philanthropic ecosystem to foster mutual learning and accelerate impact across Asia. #DonorAdvisedFunds #CharitableGiving #TemasekTrust

  • Last Friday, Mr. Dickson Lim, Head of TT Foundation Advisors (TTFA), encouraged SGListCos members to consider the transformative potential of strategic #philanthropy for companies. Businesses can be a powerful force for good. By aligning their philanthropic efforts with their core values and strategic goals, they not only create a positive social impact, but also enhance their brand reputation, strengthen employee engagement, and drive long-term sustainability. During the interactive session, Dickson shared how businesses can go beyond traditional CSR and ESG to integrate philanthropy into their business strategies, driving growth and differentiating their brand. He also introduced global giving models, such as income-share agreements for education funding, as well as case studies of how strategic philanthropy has driven social impact in regional and local contexts. TTFA is committed to support corporations in kickstarting and accelerating their giving journeys, leveraging the networks and capabilities of the Temasek Trust ecosystem. Donor-Advised Funds are one means for corporations to drive their strategic philanthropy, and can be structured into impact funds to support a wider range of impact-focused investments. Specific examples can be provided through contact@ttfa.sg. Thank you, SGListCos and our friends at SGX Group for facilitating this discussion and exchange! #DonorAdvisedFunds #CharitableGiving #TemasekTrust
