Continuing with our #MeetOurPartners campaign, we’re proud to present the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA). The Center for Security Studies (KEMEA) is a leading think tank on homeland security policies and an established research center. Established in 2005 (L. 3387/2005) under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Order & Citizen Protection, of the Hellenic Republic, KEMEA plays a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of security policies in Greece. 📌 KEMEA’s work focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to security challenges: 🔬 Research and Development: Engaging in cutting-edge national and European projects, collaborating closely with LEAs. 🎓 Training and Certification: Developing and delivering advanced training programs for practitioners in security technologies and systems, as well as certifying private security professionals at the national level. 💡 Advisory Services: Providing expert consulting and advisory services to public and private entities on safety and security strategies. 🌍 Impact: KEMEA serves as a hub for collaboration among Greek law enforcement agencies, including the Police, Fire Service, Coast Guard, and Civil Protection Agency, while establishing strong connections with their European counterparts, the research community, and industry leaders. 🔎 KEMEA's Role in the TENACITY Project: KEMEA leads the piloting activities, ensuring real-world testing, demonstration, and evaluations of the project’s solutions. 📢 Successful Conclusion of the 2nd TENACITy Living Lab Workshop! 🚀 We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the 2nd TENACITy Living Lab Workshop, held on February 28, 2025, at the premises of EUROPEAN DYNAMICS. This interactive session brought together key stakeholders to advance travel intelligence governance through real-world tool validations, scenario-based exercises, and collaborative discussions. 🔹 Workshop Overview: 🔍 The session began with an overall presentation of the TENACITy Project, outlining its mission, objectives, and the goals of the 2nd Living Lab. ✈️ Participants then engaged in a scenario presentation for airline security officers, while Passenger Information Units (PIUs) participated in small-scale exercises, applying key methodologies to practical use cases. 💻 A hands-on session and technical validation followed, allowing individual participants to test and refine the developed tools with live support from technical partners, using chat assistance, training materials, and user manuals. 🔄 The workshop continued with a scenario presentation for PIUs, followed by a collaborative hands-on session and tool validation, ensuring participants could explore synergies and maximize effectiveness in real-world applications. 🤝 The roundtable discussions and feedback sessions served as a key platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, propose improvements, and assess the evolving needs of the tools. Airline security officers provided valuable observations to the PIU community, while participants collaboratively explored ways to enhance usability, functionality, and integration. The session concluded with a final discussion, consolidating feedback and defining the next steps for continuous improvements in crime prevention and security operations. 🙏 A huge thank you to all participants, stakeholders, and technical partners who contributed to this insightful session. 🌍 Meet Our Partner: Nutcracker Market Research (UK & Malta) (NMT)! NMT is a group of behavioral scientists focused on driving individual and community engagement and inspiring behavioral change with the aim of increasing community well-being and resilience in the face of serious crime and large-scale disasters. Nutcracker Research Malta Ltd is an SME based in Malta, with a sister company in the UK, that specialises in the application of rigorous qualitative and quantitative methodologies within the domains of psychology and mass communications to understand and influence citizen behaviours in multi-cultural contexts. We have experience in the areas of influencing citizen behaviours in crisis situations to improve community resilience, working with local police to fight minor crime and communicating with minority ethnicities to drive engagement with local law authorities. 📌 Role in TENACITy: Nutcracker Market Research (UK & Malta) is responsible for investigating citizens’ views and needs in relation to the solution being developed. We are carrying out multiple workshops with citizens in Greece, Cyprus and the Czech Republic investigating topics such as, perceptions of personal safety when travelling, attitudes towards the collection and use of personal data to fight cross-border crime and levels of trust in local law enforcement. With this foundational understanding, we are then testing the implications and potential reactions to the implementation of the solution.
