🚨🚨JHTE Spotlight Post 🚨🚨 The Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education is thrilled to showcase the thought-provoking article "Effect of Hospitality and Tourism Students’ Perceived Skills on Career Adaptability and Perceived Employability" by Dr. Pimtong Tavitiyaman, Dr. Bruce Tsui, and Dr. Peggy Mei Lan Ng (@hong kong polytechnic university college of continu. This study extensively compared hospitality and tourism students perceived skills, career adaptability, and perceived employability. Key findings of this research include: • Skill development: Significant differences in working under pressure, good written communication, numeracy, planning ability, coordination and organization, and ability to use new technology in both learning locations (e.g., in the classroom and internship programs). Internships enhance working under pressure, numeracy, and technology use. • Soft skills as career adaptability: Soft skills (e.g., the interpersonal, humanistic, and behavioral skills) positively impact career adaptability (β = 0.62, p < .01). Soft skills are essential aspects that boost students’ career adaptability. • Career adaptability as perceived employability: Students with higher career adaptability have stronger perceived employability (β = 0.59, p < .01). Again, soft skills are essential aspects for boosting students’ perceived employability. 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g4FTR7wb Key Features: • Empirical Data from Hospitality Students: Based on a survey of hospitality and tourism undergraduates in Hong Kong, ensuring insights are drawn from real student experiences. • Comparative Skill Analysis: Differentiates between skills learned in the classroom versus those acquired through internships, providing a comprehensive look at how students are prepared for roles in the industry. • Practical implications: Recommends curriculum improvements that better align educational training with industry needs What are your thoughts on these differences in students' perceived skill levels? 🤔 Share your insights in the comments! 💬 #ICHRIE #JHTE #HospitalityEducation #TourismEducation #BibliometricAnalysis #HospitalityInternships #TourismInternships #AcademicResearch #EducationalTrends #TourismResearch
