Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) | Læger uden Grænser and the Grundfos Foundation | PDJF enter new Emergency-Relief-Partnership that will provide DKK 5 million over the next two years to support urgent medical relief in crises and forgotten emergencies. “Support like this is invaluable, and it gives us the flexibility and trust we need to act fast and bring life-saving care to people caught in conflict and disaster – including those who are overlooked or underreported,“ explains Anne-Mette Krøyer, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Læger uden Grænser (MSF), Denmark. One of those places is #Afghanistan, where the first DKK 1 million has already been allocated in the face of a major measles outbreak in three regions, a crisis that affects children most severely. Since the Taliban takeover, access to healthcare has deteriorated sharply, especially for women and children. MSF teams are on the ground providing essential medical care and medicines through hospitals and mobile clinics - treating common illnesses, malnutrition, and containing disease outbreaks. #MédecinsSansFrontières #Partnership Photo: Male doctor tends to a patient (boy approximately 6 years old) Text: Partnership with the Grundfos Foundation ensures medical aid in Afganistan.

We are assisting Congolese refugees in Citiboke Province, Burundi, through our humanitarian partnership with Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp. Especially women and girls are particularly vulnerable and at risk of gender based violence in overcrowded transit centres and camps. This year’s explosion of violence in and around Goma has exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation in the east of DR Congo and led to 660,000 people being forcibly displaced. This is in addition to the 6.7 million people that were already displaced across the country at the end of last year. #DKaid
Due to the escalating violence and intense conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo since January 70,000 Congolese people have fled the country over the past months into Burundi. The situation is increasingly urgent, as escalating violence and intense conflict continue to drive displacement. This influx is overwhelming the existing transit centres and refugee camps in Burundi, which were already at full capacity. Women and children are disproportionately affected by conflict and remain at heightened risk of gender-based violence (GBV), exploitation, and psychological trauma following their displacement. The absence of adequate shelter, healthcare, and protection services compounds their vulnerability. Many refugees have no option but to live in overcrowded informal settlements and transit centers, where they lack access to basic necessities such as food, clean water and sanitation services, shelter, non-food as well as food items. To give visibility to the situation, DRC’s Secretary General, Charlotte Slente, briefed the United Nations Security Council on 27 March, highlighting the human cost and impact of conflict and displacement in the region. Thanks to our much-valued emergency partnership with Grundfos Foundation | PDJF, contributing a total of DKK 5 million in 2025-2026 to DRC Danish Refugee Council’s Global Emergency Response Fund, DKK 845,000 have been allocated to respond to the urgent needs of the newly arrived refugees. With the support of Grundfos Foundation | PDJF, we are now providing cash assistance to vulnerable displaced families, ensuring flexibility for people to purchase what they need the most. Thank you very much for your support Grundfos Foundation | PDJF! Read more here: https://lnkd.in/diPxYFkn Read the full speech here: https://lnkd.in/ddksbdif

Beyond providing 24/7 access to clean water, the solar-powered system has significantly reduced costs compared to the previous diesel-powered system, is environmentally friendly by minimizing pollution and noise, and has improved community health and safety #solarpumping #WaterAccess #DKaid #WorldWaterDay
During a visit to a refugee camp in Gambella, it was inspiring to witness the transformative impact of Plan International's solar-powered water supply system. This innovative system, utilizing four solarized boreholes out of a total of ten, provides a reliable and sustainable water source for the camp's 65,000 residents, consistently meeting UNHCR's standard of 20 liters per person per day. Beyond providing 24/7 access to clean water, the solar-powered system has significantly reduced costs compared to the previous diesel-powered system, is environmentally friendly by minimizing pollution and noise, and has improved community health and safety—especially for girls and women through automated chlorination and reduced risks associated with water collection. #CleanWaterForAll #SolarPoweredWater #SustainableSolutions #SafeWaterAccess #RefugeeSupport #GambellaRefugeeCamp

The recent Global Analysis and Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water (GLAAS) report noted a severe shortage of skilled professionals needed for the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and monitoring of water and sanitation systems in Africa. “Safe and reliable water access is a cornerstone in securing livelihoods, health, and social progress in rural areas. It takes both knowledge and skill to maintain modern water systems, and we want to assist governments in building capacity in the water sector to bring essential services to their citizens,” says Kim Nøhr Skibsted, CEO, Grundfos Foundation. During the first phase of the project, Global Water Center will undertake a gap analysis to identify the most urgent vocational training needs, initiate course design, and launch a government technical assistance program. We're very grateful to the Coca-Cola Foundation for agreeing to come along on this journey with us.
💧 Big News from Global Water Center! 💧 Thanks to the US $1.1 million in launching funds from the Grundfos Foundation and The Coca-Cola Foundation, we are starting a groundbreaking project to help improve access to safe water in rural communities across East Africa. This initiative will focus on capacity-building, course development, and strategic partnerships to equip local professionals with the skills needed to manage and maintain sustainable water systems. By investing in communities across Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Uganda, we're working to provide reliable access to safely managed water across the region. Together, we are taking a significant step forward in helping to solve the global water challenge. 👏 👏 👏 This collaboration is a prime example of how partnerships and catalytic funding can create scalable solutions that can be implemented across sectors, national borders, and donors. #WaterAccess #DKaid
Scalable solutions will create safe water and improved access to food for 200,000 people in South Sudan and Ethiopia 🌿 In an exciting new collaboration, PlanBørnefonden, together with our colleagues in South Sudan and Ethiopia, will ensure access to food, water, and green income opportunities for nearly 200,000 people in areas heavily affected by climate change and conflicts. The collaboration is called Water4Food and is jointly funded by the African Development Bank Group, Grundfos Foundation | PDJF, Plan International España and PlanBørnefonden with over USD 15 million. Needs are immense for new ways to cultivate the land and ensure access to clean water that are adapted to the new reality created by climate change—whether flooding as in South Sudan or droughts in Ethiopia. PlanBørnefonden, Plan International South Sudan, and Plan International Ethiopia, together with the Grundfos Foundation and local partners, will collect and reuse water from flooded agricultural land for irrigation systems, improve access to clean drinking water, promote the use of climate-resistant crops, improve value chains for farmers, and use solar energy to create better and safer water sources. Over the next three years, this will create better access to food, health, clean drinking water, and economic opportunities for nearly 200,000 people in the two countries, with a particular focus on those most vulnerable to conflicts and climate change: refugees, internally displaced persons, youth, and girls and women. The solutions build on our collaboration with the Grundfos Foundation for more than a decade, which started in Togo and is now in Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. This collaboration is a prime example of how partnerships and catalytic funding can create scalable solutions that can be implemented across sectors, national borders, and donors. Thank you to African Development Bank, The Grundfos Foundation and our amazing colleagues at Plan South Sudan and Plan Ethiopia. We can’t wait to get started!

A violent, escalating, and still largely overlooked conflict is currently unfolding in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). More than six million people, including 3.5 million children, are internally displaced, while lack of access to everything from clean water to basic healthcare services is threatening children’s safety and well-being. #WaterAccess has become a major challenge, forcing many families to draw water either from a lake or from often unsanitary reservoirs, increasing the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases. The Foundation therefore supports UNICEF's humanitarian efforts for children and families in DR Congo. Photos: UNICEF/Jospin Benekire
