📢 Support is needed for grassroots organizations in migrant protection! ✨In March, the Incentive Fund Kick-Off Conference brought together numerous organizations dedicated to migrant protection and assistance in Belgium. The event showcased the selected projects for the 2025 Incentive Fund and featured multiple workshops aimed at enhancing the capacities of grassroots organizations working with migrants in vulnerable situations. During the networking lunch, participants had the chance to connect and exchange ideas with other organizations and experts. This year, 7 inspiring projects will receive support from the Incentive Fund, and we eagerly anticipate their impactful work! 👀 🙌 A heartfelt thank you to all attendees for your insights and participation. The IOM recognizes the invaluable contributions of grassroots actors in this field and remains committed to supporting them. ℹ️ The Incentive Fund, an initiative by IOM under the Conex project funded by Fedasil, aims to empower grassroots organizations in Belgium to inform, reach, and provide services to migrants in vulnerable administrative situations. #MigrantProtection #Grassroots #CapacityBuilding Oasis Belgium Maison Arc-en-Ciel de Liège Umbrella Refugee Committee PAG-ASA Plateforme Citoyenne - BELREFUGEES - Burgerplatform MINOR-NDAKO vzw Oranjehuis Praxis Consultancy Luc AMEYE

💭 How can communities help pave the way to refugees' social inclusion and integration? On the 4th of April, we explored this in a webinar on Community Sponsorship, marking the launch of the RISE assessment report. Here are some key takeaways from our speakers and panelists: 🤝 Community Sponsorship is cost-effective, eases pressure on public systems, and boosts language acquisition and integration outcomes, through shared responsibility between governments, communities, and private actors. 🧭 Sponsor groups ease stress and isolation by helping refugees navigate essential services, fostering sense of belonging and speeding up refugees' social integration. 📚 Structured and formalised matching processes, training, mentorship, and diversification of sponsors are essential to support the successful social inclusion of refugees. 📣 Local, tailored recruitment campaigns work best, tapping into solidarity events, faith-based gatherings, local schools, and cultural hubs, all led by trusted community champions. At its core, Community Sponsorship fosters a sense of purpose and accomplishment for both refugees and volunteers, further strengthening the foundations of resilient and welcoming communities. Thank you to our brilliant speakers for their insights!
