Labour mobility and labour market integration initiatives led by IOM-UN Migration and its partners.

About us

The International Talent Mobility thematic page features a plurality of projects on skills mobility led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Country Office for Belgium and Luxembourg and its partners. Today, an estimated 169 million people are working in a country other than their country of birth. Labour mobility has become a key feature of globalization and the global economy. When effectively managed, labour migration has far-reaching potential for the migrants, their communities, the countries of origin and destination, and for employers. A growing number of countries view international labour migration as an integral part of their national development and employment strategies. On one hand, countries of origin benefit from labour migration because it relieves unemployment pressures and contributes to development through remittances, knowledge transfer, and the creation of business and trade networks. On the other hand, destination countries can have access to unexplored diverse talent pools while addressing labour shortages, and benefiting from knowledge exchange. Follow us for more information on current pathways such as Displaced Talent for Europe (DT4E), the Skills Mobility Partnership (SMP) focusing on healthcare between Belgium and Tunisia, the Learning Mobility Scheme (LMS) between Belgium and Tunisia, and other upcoming initiatives. Do not hesitate to reach out if you would like to know more! * DT4E is funded by the European Union. * The SMP between Belgium and Tunisia and the LMS between Belgium and Tunisia are funded by the Belgian government and co-funded by the European Union.

“The environment was dynamic, and we were very well supported. It wasn’t just an internship—it was a life-changing experience.” 💬 🌏 👀 In 2018, Kamel Romdhani came to Belgium from Tunisia to intern at a Belgian startup through a dedicated internship mobility scheme set up between the two countries by IOM Belgium & Luxembourg and OIM Tunisie - IOM Tunisia - المنظمة الدولية للهجرة بتونس. Working in a small team alongside the CEO and three other Tunisian interns proved to be an invaluable opportunity. Through this internship, Kamel developed a variety of soft and hard skills that gave him the boost he needed to launch his career. He integrated into a new culture and gained hands-on experience. 💻 Today, Kamel works as a Software Engineer at Speos, a company specializing in e-invoicing. He believes Tunisian interns bring motivation and expertise: “They are highly skilled and very eager to learn, as this opportunity can be life-changing for them! Furthermore, Tunisia has excellent engineering schools, and speaking French makes workplace integration seamless.” He remains grateful for the assistance he received from IOM, from travel logistics to housing support. “I’m happy you’re relaunching this programme— it will give others the opportunity to change their lives through an international work experience, just like it changed mine.” 🤝 ✉️ Are you an employer looking for highly motivated Tunisian graduates? Reach out to us at talentforbelgium@iom.int    ℹ️ This programme is funded by the SPF Intérieur - FOD Binnenlandse Zaken and cofunded by the European Union #Tunisia #Belgium #LabourMobility #Internshipopportunity

  • Europe’s Population Crisis: Why Migration Matters More Than Ever According to the Guardian, Europe faces a stark demographic challenge: without migration, the population is projected to decline by over a third by 2100, with countries like Germany, Italy, and Spain losing 40% or more of their population. This ageing population will lead to labour shortages, rising pension costs, and economic stagnation. 🚨 More than ever, it is crucial to remember that migration can be a key part of the solution: ✅ Businesses increasingly need skilled migrants to fill critical workforce gaps. ✅ Many European healthcare systems heavily rely on foreign-trained doctors and nurses. ✅ Abandoned rural areas are being revitalised through refugee resettlement. At IOM, we firmly believe that investing in inclusive labour mobility policies today will help Europe navigate its demographic challenges tomorrow. That’s why we are working to facilitate safe and regular access for international talents to job opportunities in Europe, through initiatives like Displaced Talent for Europe (DT4E) and LMS Tunisia-Belgium. 📩 If you’re a Belgian employer looking to join this impactful journey, reach out to us at talentforbelgium@iom.int #MigrationMatters # LabourMobility #RegularPathways

🌟 #IOM #RegularPathways #LabourMobility

🛬 Hoog Zuid-Amerikaans bezoek in wzc Hollebeek vorige week. • 🌍 Last week's conference at the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium was both insightful and inspiring! The discussions on legal frameworks and innovative approaches to connecting displaced talents with employers—led by Fragomen and Talent Beyond Boundaries—highlighted the substantial impact of international talent in driving growth, innovation, and competitiveness in Belgium. Through Displaced Talent for Europe (DT4E), we at IOM are dedicated to connecting displaced international talent with job opportunities in Belgium, bridging the gap between global talent and local workforce needs. This initiative not only creates life-changing opportunities for displaced individuals but also helps address the significant labour shortages in Belgium. Thank you to AmCham Belgium and all the speakers for such a valuable event! Let's keep building bridges for talent and opportunity. #DT4E #DisplacedTalents #RegularPathways

At the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium, we are committed to ensuring that Belgium remains a magnet for international #talent.      That’s why we were thrilled to host a conference alongside Fragomen and Talent Beyond Boundaries. The event provided a clear overview of the legal framework for labor mobility and an inspiring look at how Talent Beyond Boundaries connects displaced people with employers.    A global talent pool leads to a larger network for sharing ideas that encourage #innovation and promote business expansion. Beyond that, an international labor force attracts further investment into Belgium, boosting our #growth and strengthening our #competitiveness.      Thank you to all of the speakers for your valuable presentations and to everyone present who contributed to an inspiring conversation.      #AmChamBelgium #InternationalTalent #BrainGain
