Exciting highlights from the FECCA Conference 2024 in Brisbane! Our IOM team was honoured to facilitate a session on “Unlocking Pathways to Full Participation,” aligned with this year’s theme, "Our Experiences. Our Future." IOM facilitated the session “Unlocking Pathways to Full Participation” discussing employment challenges, which is an important element to social cohesion: Abiola Akinbiyi (Changepreneurs Inc) shared inspiring mentorship stories of African Australian female youth through a transformative seven-pillar framework. Gabby Weiss (Refugee Health Network) explored the barriers and enablers for CALD nurses entering Queensland's workforce. Lily Jiang (SSI) discussed the billion-dollar economic impact of unlocking migrant skills in Australia. Ashraful Azad (Settlement Council of Australia) provided valuable insights into the employment challenges faced by migrant and refugee mothers. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in these essential conversations! Together, let’s continue to champion inclusivity and uplift diverse communities. #FECCAConference2024

Strengthening Cooperation with LATAM Embassies IOM Australia participated in an engaging discussion with embassy and consular staff from the LATAM community to support their information needs with respect to the assistance of migrants in Australia. During the session, we explored ways consulates can identify, support, and refer their countrypersons in Australia in need of support, including for assistance to return home. Together, we aim to enhance collaboration and strengthen the bridges to accessing support to those in need. This event was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Department of Home Affairs.
