🧭 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺’𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 On 23 April 2025, more than 100 industry leaders, key energy players, policymakers and researchers gathered at TRACK, Brussels, for the premiere of our newest 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗦𝟮𝟬𝟱𝟬 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 study: https://lnkd.in/eeYvQejf 🤝 The event also marked the official introduction of the freshly-established 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗦𝟮𝟬𝟱𝟬 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, a collaborative effort led by VITO/EnergyVille under which a diverse group of stakeholders — including ArcelorMittal Belgium, BASF, Elia Group, Fluxys and Luminus — for the first time ever joined forces to develop data-driven roadmaps showing how Belgium can become climate-neutral by 2050, while keeping our 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 & 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁. The result? Three 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 that can guide today’s policy and investment decisions — a real compass for action, addressing everything from #wind and #nuclear power to sustainable #molecules, #electrification & #carboncapture. Plus, what made the event even more powerful, was the 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 that followed the presentations. Because the only way forward is together — challenging perspectives, aligning ambitions, and openly discussing trade-offs. This is the kind of 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 our country urgently needs to reach its climate goals. 💡 The 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 was crystal clear: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. 🌍🤝 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺 Last week, Leen Govaerts, Director of Water and Energy Transition at VITO, joined the Belgian State Visit to Vietnam alongside 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺, Ministers Cieltje Van Achter and Maxime Prévot, and a high-level business delegation. The visit focused 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, and 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 between Belgium and Vietnam.    🔹𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: ✅ 𝗠𝗼𝗨 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗠𝗛𝗘𝗡 🤝  VITO and the Vietnam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology, and Climate Change (IMHEN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance climate adaptation policies. De weg naar koolstofvrije gebouwen ligt open - mits de juiste beleidskeuzes. 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲-𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶ë𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗢₂-𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗲 Niet elk A-label is hetzelfde. Woningen kunnen energiezuinig zijn, maar toch een hoge CO₂-uitstoot hebben. Door koolstoflimieten in het EPC te integreren, stimuleren we de overstap naar warmtepompen en maken we renovatie betaalbaarder. 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗸𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗳𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗺 Simulaties op basis van 135 gebouwtypes en casestudies in Gent, Genk en Antwerpen maken duidelijk dat CO₂-limieten het verschil kunnen maken: ✅ CO₂-limieten verlagen de investeringsdrempel ✅ Lokale renovatiestrategieën versnellen decarbonisatie ✅ Een evenwichtigere energieprijsverhouding (elektriciteit vs. gas) maakt warmtepompen aantrekkelijker 𝗪𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗱? ● Hervorm het EPC: neem CO₂-uitstoot als criterium op ● Pas energieheffingen aan: maak elektrificatie financieel interessanter ● Stimuleer gefaseerde renovaties: lagere instapkosten, snellere impact Door het opnemen van CO₂-limieten in het EPC én met een doordachte mix van beleidsinstrumenten kunnen beleidsmakers de overstap naar warmtepompen versnellen. 🔗 Meer weten? https://lnkd.in/eMxusm_i #Warmtepompen #Renovatie #Energietransitie #DuurzaamWonen
