The Disaster Competence Network Austria (DCNA) acts as a link between scientific research and practitioners in crisis and disaster management. Through knowledge and technology transfer, findings from basic research are implemented and directed to those interested in security and disaster research in Austria and beyond. As an academic contact and cooperation partner for aid and relief organizations as well as organizations and decision-makers from the public and private sectors, the association has extensive experience in the continuous and lasting networking and cooperation of research and practice to facilitate access to expertise, models, tools and research approaches in security and disaster research. The Disaster Competence Network Austria (DCNA) will work on the identification of gaps and needs in European biotoxin management and develop CONOPs for an improved procedure in the future.

News aus dem Projekt Wanzendrohne 👇 Im Projekt wird das Verhalten der Wanzen ausgenutzt: Sie lassen sich bei starken Vibrationen reflexartig fallen. Konkret soll ein Bodenroboter eine Drohne nahe an die befallenen Obstbäume transportieren, die die Wanzen dann durch Vibrationen dazu bringt, sich fallen zu lassen. Von dort kann sie der Roboter schließlich aufsammeln. Bei Wanzendrohne geht es um #Versorgungssicherheit: Die invasiven Wanzenarten im Fokus (die grüne Reiswanze und die braune marmorierte Stinkwanze) richten vor allem im Obstbau großen Schaden an und machen bis zu 200 Obstsorten, v.a. Äpfel und Birnen, ungenießbar und unverkäuflich. Derzeit ist kein chemisches Pestizid gegen diese Schädlinge zugelassen, der Effekt natürlicher Feinde ist gering. #DRR #DRM #Katastrophenforschung #Sicherheitsforschung #DCNA
Wanzenflugversuche & Windtechnik – ein ungewöhnlicher, aber spannender Prototypentest in Graz 🕷️ Um das Projektziel – die Bekämpfung von #Stinkwanzen durch eine #Drohne und einen #Roboter, etwa im Bereich #Obstbau – zu erreichen, laufen aktuell verschiedene technische Tests. Vor kurzem testete das Projektteam am Gelände der Technische Universität Graz ein Windumlenksystem für einen Bodenroboter. Ziel war es, Stinkwanzen möglichst effizient in einen Auffangbehälter zu leiten. Dazu wurden Wanzen aus unterschiedlichen Höhen fallengelassen bzw. auf einer Holzpalette platziert, um ihre Widerstandsfähigkeit gegenüber dem von zwei Drohnenrotoren erzeugten Luftstrom zu untersuchen. Einige Highlights und Erkenntnisse des Versuchs: ➡️ Ein seitlich am Roboter montiertes Windshield lenkt den Luftstrom gezielt um – der gerade Fall von Laub aus 1,3 m Höhe wurde dadurch kaum beeinflusst. ➡️ Bei Fallversuchen aus 1,3 m landeten die meisten Wanzen erfolgreich im V-förmigen Auffangbehälter, der rund 1 m vom Roboter entfernt positioniert war. ➡️ Da sich die Wanzen erstaunlich gut am Material des Behälters festhalten, wäre eine Antihaftbeschichtung (z. B. Lotusan oder Teflon) hilfreich, um das Einsaugen zu erleichtern. ➡️ Aus 2,5 m Höhe zeigten manche Wanzen aktive Flugversuche – beim dritten Durchgang lag die Trefferquote nur noch bei ca. 50 %. Next steps: Optimierung des Auffangsystems und weitere Tests – sowohl am Gelände der TU Graz als auch in der Versuchsstation Obst- und Weinbau Haidegg. Danke an alle, die beim Test dabei waren! September 2025 findet im bulgarischen #Montana eine der weltweit größten Katastrophenschutzübungen statt – die einwöchige NATO #EmergencyManagement Exercise “#BULGARIA2025”, organisiert vom Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (#EADRCC) der NATO und dem bulgarischen Innenministerium. Forschende aller Karrierestufen sind eingeladen, die Übung als Feldforschungsplattform zu nutzen.
