'Twas the eve before Thanksgiving, when all through the house,
A tired mom was scurrying, even rousing her spouse.
The turkey was thawed, and the pies were cooling with care,
As visions of dirty dishes filled the poor mama's nightmare.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
As pumpkin pie dreams swirled in their heads.
And mama cooked the feast with her spouse by her side,
In the midst of the chaos, their love was their guide.
When out in the living room there arose such a clatter,
She dashed from the kitchen to see what was the matter.
The cause of the ruckus soon filled her with dread -
The kids found some markers and had colored the walls red!
Mama felt her frustration begin to unfold,
Her dreams of perfection now gone, she was told.
Yet she paused, took a breath, not losing her cool,
Remembering, it's time together, not just décor, as a rule.
On Thanksgiving, if your home is in disarray, don't fret!
Let go of perfection, find joy without regret!
