Happy Thanksgiving from The Law Office of JL Carpenter
Is 2020 over yet? What a year it has been for all of us! I never in my life thought we would be living through a pandemic like this. While there is plenty we could complain about this year, there are many blessings to be recognized, too.
Why is this happening to me?
Oftentimes, we have clients hire us and ask why they may be going through whatever it is they may be experiencing in their lives at the time. Time after time, clients have come back with victorious stories about how the negative experience turned out to be a blessing in some sort of fashion. We love hearing these success stories!
Surrendering to No Control and Fear of the Unknown
More than 20 years of experience in this career has shown that the hardest parts of being accused of a criminal allegation is surrendering to not having control and the fear of the unknown. While our firm gives 110% to each and every one of our clients, there are other variables outside of our control such as slow courts, high turnover rate of prosecutors, not receiving the discovery in a timely manner, losing at the Grand Jury, rejection of plea bargains and now, a pandemic. It is in these times when we have to rally our clients to hang in there with us.
Blessings and Self Love
This Thanksgiving, we encourage our clients to acknowledge the blessings in your lives instead of stressing about things not within your control. In whatever way you may choose to spend this holiday, please take care of yourselves.
Here are a few suggestions:
· Take a break and enjoy some silence.
· Take a walk or a bike ride and leave your phone at home.
· Find a meditation or yoga video on YouTube and try something new.
· Bake some cookies.
· Make a gratitude list.
· And maybe most important of all, go help someone else.
- Help an elderly neighbor with their trash
- Pickup medications for a sick friend
- Make phone calls to check on people you haven’t spoken with in a long time just to check on them
As for Crystal, Mo and me, we are thankful for our families, our health and for all of you.
Wishing everyone a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!
