I’ve partnered with the Trusted Care Foundation and Johnny Lee to tackle one of healthcare’s challenges: helping individuals launch into their healthcare careers by getting hands-on medical assistant training. Here’s the reality: traditional training programs require in-person labs and externships, making it difficult for aspiring healthcare providers who may be juggling a full-time job and supporting a family, to embark on this new career journey. We saw an opportunity to change that. Via augmented reality glasses, we’re piloting a remote coaching program that connects students with RNs in real-time. Our initial results are promising: students trained through this program have successfully passed their fundamental skill evaluation, demonstrating that effective hands-on training can be delivered remotely. But we’re not stopping there. We’re building a dataset to develop a wearable AI coach, which could expand access to entry-level medical training on an unprecedented scale. Imagine a future where anyone, anywhere, can gain the skills they need to provide quality care. **To all my connections in healthcare and beyond:** we’re looking for feedback, insights, and potential collaborators. Whether you’re a hiring manager looking to upskill future employees affordably or an industry professional with ideas to share, I’d love to connect. Let’s work together to create a more accessible, equitable future for healthcare training. Let me know your thoughts—or reach out if you’d like to explore partnership opportunities! Peace!
We started the non-profit Trusted Care Foundation to inspire the next generation of pediatric clinicians. We’ve already connected more than 120 college students with pediatric experiences, providing them with training, mentorship, and internship opportunities. More than 4,000 students have signed up to have the same opportunities — they want to learn more about pediatric medicine, and perhaps become the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric specialists. But we need your help: It costs $500 to sponsor an additional student, and we’ve set our goal now to sponsor the next 200 of them! We’ve made it easy to pave the way to increase the workforce in pediatric care by inspiring the next generation of healthcare providers. You can make a donation to the Trusted Care Foundation from you, your family, or on behalf of someone else. The best gifts are the ones that have the power to change the future for all of us, including children. Make a difference today: https://lnkd.in/gjQ8eV2T All donations are tax deductible and make a big difference to the 4000+ students who’ve signed up for Trusted Care programs but are still waiting for funding for opportunities. With best regards, Sandy Chung, M.D. Past President of the American Academy of Pediatrics Trusted Care Foundation

#snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking EYE DONATION Eye donation is the act of donating one's eyes after death for the purpose of corneal transplantation or research. It allows visually impaired individuals to regain sight and contributes to medical advancements in eye health. Eye donation is incredibly important for several reasons: 1. **Restoration of Sight:** Donated eyes can restore vision to individuals suffering from corneal blindness due to diseases, injuries, or congenital conditions. This gift significantly enhances their quality of life. 2. **Medical Advancements:** Donated eyes facilitate research into eye diseases, treatments, and surgical techniques. This research helps improve medical knowledge and develop better treatments for various eye conditions. 3. **Humanitarian Act:** It's a humanitarian gesture that can positively impact the lives of others, providing hope and opportunities for those in need of sight restoration. 4. **Easing the Burden:** Eye donation reduces the burden on families and society by offering a solution to those facing irreversible blindness, ensuring that their wishes to contribute even after death are fulfilled. 5. **Educational Purposes:** Donated eyes also serve educational purposes, allowing medical students and professionals to learn and practice surgical techniques in a controlled environment. Encouraging eye donation raises awareness about its importance and encourages more people to pledge their eyes, thus potentially transforming lives and advancing medical science.

As we near the end of the year, we are counting down 5 reasons to give to Lifebox before we say goodbye to 2024. Kicking it off with Reason #5 to Give to Lifebox: So patients everywhere can be properly monitored with pulse oximetry! A pulse oximeter is a minimum standard for safe anesthesia, measuring how well oxygen is being sent around a patient’s body. Tragically, thousands of operating rooms around the world still lack access to pulse oximetry– putting millions of lives at risk. Lifebox combats this gap in anesthesia safety with the Lifebox Pulse Oximeter, a device that meets specifications for use in low-resource settings– with robust construction and rechargeable batteries. It costs $250 to send a Lifebox Pulse Oximeter to an anesthesia provider in need. All donations through the end of the year will be DOUBLED up to $5,000! That means if you donate $250, you can supply not one, but TWO Lifebox Pulse Oximeters! Donate now and help protect patients everywhere with pulse oximetry: https://bit.ly/4hMwcmG #EndofYearGiving #ReasonstoGive #PulseOximetry #PatientSafety #SafeAnesthesia #GlobalSurgery #GlobalHealth #SafeSurgery
