As part of a Lifebox Quality Improvement intervention led by our Nursing Leadership for Surgical Excellence (NLSE) fellows, essential surgical equipment was donated to Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH) in Ethiopia. The donation which includes an operating room warmer, digital monitor, and hygrometers, will enhance surgical safety and support effective hypothermia management. We held our first Spanish #TeamCleft workshop with Smile Train in Mexico City! ✅ 21 participants from 7 hospitals across 4 countries joined us for this interactive workshop. Together, we’re building stronger, safer multidisciplinary cleft teams by enhancing teamwork, leadership, and communication skills in the operating room. This training is a crucial step toward ensuring safer surgery for every cleft patient. Smile Train, in partnership with Lifebox hosted Madagascar's first-ever capnography training session in Antananarivo on March 18. Led by Dr. Hery Randrianirina and Dr. Mamitiana Andrianirina, this groundbreaking event saw twelve enthusiastic participants eager to learn and embrace the benefits of capnography. The training underscored the importance of capnography, inspiring attendees to integrate this vital device into their daily practice. Additionally, all Smile Train Treatment Centers in Madagascar received capnograph donations from Smile Train and Lifebox, ensuring widespread access to this life-saving technology. Excited about our first Capnography workshop in Madagascar with Smile Train. We trained 13 anesthesia providers! We also donated Smile Train-Lifebox Capnographs to six health facilities and  to the Société d'Anesthésie et de Réanimation de Madagascar-SARM The Smile Train-Lifebox Safe Surgery and Anesthesia Initiative is a multi-year strategic partnership to elevate the quality and safety of cleft and pediatric surgery worldwide.
