We’ve won! We are thrilled to announce that Poznań, Poland 🇵🇱 🇪🇺, will host the most prominent space event in the world, the International Astronautical Congress IAC 2027. During #IAC2024 in Milan, in which more than 11,000 participants participated, the General Assembly of the International Astronautical Federation officially approved Poland’s bid, marking a monumental achievement for the Polish space sector. The project will be carried out jointly by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, European Space Foundation (Host Organization), POLSA Polska Agencja Kosmiczna | Polish Space Agency, Miasto Poznań, Grupa MTP, Poznan Congress Center, Poznań Convention Bureau and THE WAY (producer of Impact CEE conference), with support from LOT Polish Airlines. Efforts to organize the IAC in Poland lasted nearly two years and involved several stages defined by the main organizer, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF). The final stage, the selection of the IAC 2027 organizer, took place on the last day of this year's congress. Several hundred members of the Federation, including the world’s space agencies, universities and companies, and NGOs working in the space field, voted. We would like to thank everyone for their support and get down to work on this prestigious event, which is vital for our country and the entire CEE region. See you in Poznań at #IAC2027Poland! Want to take a sneak peek into IAC 2024? Accompany our team from Universidade de Vigo, representing atlanTTic - Research Center for Telecommunication Technologies, Aerospace Technology Research Group (ATRG) - Universidade de Vigo | atlanTTic, and School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering, as we enter and do a small route into the largest space forum in the world. Forum is indeed a great description, because this event is like a giant roman forum in which, for five days, top voices from all over the space community gather to debate and negotiate. In this small sample you can see some of the nicest posts, with #spaceagencies such as NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization, consolidated companies like Thales Alenia Space or Leonardo or strong newcomers like VAST. Special mention to the national pavillions, like the one Spain had this year, where the main national players gathered. Where you there this year? What did you enjoyed most?

As we near the anniversary tomorrow, 20th July, of the Apollo 11 American spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon, it is a great chance to reflect why go. Jake Bleacher tells a great story of why in his discussion on the Small Steps, Giant Leaps podcast: Episode 131: The Artemis Lunar Terrain Vehicle. Other than talking to the technology advancements we all benefit from, he also talks to the science. "So, when we ask questions of ourselves, for instance, why are we here? Where does life come from? We actually can’t answer those questions very well staying on the earth. Because the Moon has been a partner for us the entire time. It’s basically orbited the Earth and watched everything that has happened here on the earth. So, by going to the Moon scientifically, we can start digging up some of that evidence to help us understand where we come from, why we’re here – things we just can’t answer here. It also helps set the stage for how we interpret everything else that we see in the solar system. So, I like to say we’re not just going to study the Moon. We’re going to study ourselves. We’re studying the Earth-Moon system and the solar system as a whole. And the Moon is a very critical piece of understanding that.
