These past years have seen many initiatives come to life, such as the ESA BSGN | Business in Space Growth Network Accelerator for Agrifood, the Digital health from Space Feasibility Study, the Space Linkers and the Space VC Matchmaking Platforms and many more! Now, with the new year just around the corner, we are excited for the next chapter of Space Cooperative Europe SCE! We are dedicated to 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿! Focussing on our three pillars - 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - we are bringing a unique, new approach to collaboration and cooperation to the European space industry. We are saying 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 to all our members and partners for the last four successful years, and are excited for what's to come and for the next steps of Cooperative Space Innovation. Hub early-career researcher Elsemi Olwage (University of Namibia) spoke yesterday at the Hub’s Satellite event in the lead up to the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona. ▶ Watch a short recording of Elsemi's speech here: https://lnkd.in/e2n5ZCSy ❔ In this Spotlight Q&A, Elsemi gives advice to fellow early-career researchers interested in transdisciplinary ocean research. Q: WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO FELLOW EARLY-CAREER RESEARCHERS WORKING ON A GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT? A: “Working from the Global South can be challenging, given the still persistent global inequalities in funding and knowledge production. It can result in power imbalances and lack of equal knowledge exchange. One key practice can be for early career researchers to try to be involved from the start with co-writing and co-designing the project proposal. Secondly, early career researchers should contribute to and ethically align with the project’s Code of Practice. I proudly announce our #nomination within the category ‘𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲’ 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 ‘𝗧-𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲’ 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 at the Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH. Our #T-Shape model essentially stands for inclusion and brings together the right and diverse people for solving the specific technical challenges given. It combines broadly horizontal solution exploration and tailored vertical solution exploitation. As knowledge represents the ultimate asset – especially with respect to scientific work – several measures were implemented to support and ensure a rapid access to the relevant competences and people’s openness to collaborate.
