The “Middleground” as a Catalyst for the Dynamics of Innovation in an Ecosystem: The case of Eurasanté in Hauts-de-France! I. Collaboration  Innovation requires collaboration as knowledge creation centers on collective processes II. Ecosystem  The innovation ecosystem is characterized by heterogeneous actors engaged in complex relationships and co-evolve to generate innovation III. Components  1. The Underground -> refers to smaller players, talented individuals, artists, and informal collectives where new ideas and trends originate, constituting the exploratory capacity. 2. The Upperground  -> contains elements and actors who have the standardization capacity to develop and exploit new paths of growth (firms, R&D organizations, public organizations) The Middleground ->  provides an intermediation role, bringing together talented, creative, and outlying elements with exploration capacity and standardized actors with exploitation capacity for interaction in innovation process IV. Activities  The Middleground takes the form of creative places, spaces, events, and projects and serves as a platform where talents and ideas are developed, nurtured, and strengthened and provides the collaboration for new creative ideas to be transmitted to the marketplace V. The Middleground in the Eurasanté Innovation Ecosystem Is made up of the emblematic place of the Eurasanté Innovation Park, many cognitive and creative spaces, collaborative R&D, and innovation projects supported or labeled by the Eurasanté Agency or its components, and events organized or supported by the Eurasanté Agency or its components or realized in the Innovation Park VI. Impact The research empirically confirms that Middleground, in terms of collaborative projects and events, contributes to the technological performance of firms. 🎬Living Labs in Action: Reflections from Mirafiori Sud, City of Turin 🤔What can Living Labs achieve and how can they be brought to life? These were some of the key questions explored in our webinar, hosted by Soil Association as part of the #NBSOILAcademy. The session provided valuable insights into the Mirafiori Sud Living Lab in Turin, part of the proGIreg project. Led by Ana Allamand (Soil Association), speakers Laura Ribotta (Comune di Torino) and Elio Padoan (Università degli Studi di Torino) shared their experiences, highlighting both the challenges and successes of implementing 17 nature-based solutions across the neighbourhood. Discussions covered how Living Labs foster collaboration among local communities, scientists, and authorities to co-create sustainable solutions for soil health. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of Living Labs, beyond theory, through first-hand accounts of long-term engagement, social impact, and lessons learned. ➤ Want to learn more about living labs? Our #T-Shape model essentially stands for inclusion and brings together the right and diverse people for solving the specific technical challenges given. What is citizen science and how can it be used? 🗝️ This is the focus for an #online #workshop targeting researchers and others interested in learning about citizen science, organised by the EUTOPIA Connected Community on Tourism and Experiences on January 30 at 13.30-15.00 CET. #Citizenscience is scientific research that is entirely or partially conducted by citizens, often in collaboration with or supervised by professional researchers. The aim of the workshop is to give a general introduction to citizen science, with examples from #tourism, #experiences and other areas. The workshop will also include a guided brainstorm on project ideas. Moderators of the workshop are Sven De Boeck and Floor Keersmaekers, research outreach officers and trainers from Citizen Science Contact Point at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), member of the EUTOPIA university alliance.
