One of Sidley Austin's highest profile London M&A partners has left to join rival U.S. outfit Covington & Burling.
Phil Cheveley is set to join Covington's London office, the firm said in a statement.
Prior to this latest move, Cheveley has had an illustrious career at a number of top firms, including at legacy firm Shearman & Sterling, where he was the EMEA and Asia M&A head and before that at Travers Smith, where again he acted as M&A head.
He has been involved in a number of high profile transactions in recent years, including advising GE Healthcare on its acquisition of Intelligent Ultrasound, Canaccord Genuity Group, Inc. on its acquisition of Results International, and the investment by HPS Investments LLC in its European wealth management business.
Cheveley follows in the footsteps of two of his former Sidley Austin colleagues, private equity partners Lyndsey Laverack and Jade Williams-Adedeji, who joined Covington earlier this year.
