We Indians are a salt-sensitive population therefore it is crucial to shine a light on a prevalent issue within Indian diets: the consumption of high salt foods. Studies have shown that a high-sodium diet can lead to various health complications, including hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and kidney ailments. Here are some examples of Indian foods that are often rich in table salt : 1️⃣ Pickles: A quintessential accompaniment to Indian meals, pickles are often high in salt content due to the pickling process. Varieties like mango pickle (aam ka achar), lemon pickle (nimbu ka achar), and mixed vegetable pickle (achar) are popular choices. 2️⃣ Papad: These thin, crisp discs made from lentil flour or chickpea flour are usually seasoned with salt and spices before being fried or roasted. They are commonly served as an appetizer or side dish. 3️⃣ Bhujia and Sev: These savory snacks are made from chickpea flour (besan) and seasoned with various spices, including salt. They are deep-fried to achieve a crispy texture and are often enjoyed with tea or as a topping for chaat. 4️⃣ Instant Noodles and Ready-to-Eat Meals: Packaged instant noodles and ready-to-eat meals often contain high levels of sodium as a preservative and flavor enhancer. These convenient foods are popular choices for quick meals but should be consumed in moderation due to their high salt content. 5️⃣ Salted Lassi: While traditional lassi is a refreshing yogurt-based drink, salted lassi includes added salt for a savory flavor. While it can be enjoyed in moderation, excessive consumption may contribute to high sodium intake. 7️⃣ Fried Snacks: Various fried snacks like samosas, pakoras, and bhajis are seasoned with salt and spices. While delicious, these snacks can be high in sodium due to the salt added during preparation. These examples highlight the importance of moderation when consuming these foods, especially for individuals looking to manage their sodium intake for better health. #heathyliving #saltsensitive #India #hearthealth #Goodforheart

If we remove the processed foods out of the list, salt is quite essential for restoring electrolytes in the body. Especially those who work out.
