HFC is committed to supporting caregivers, especially when caregiving gets tough(er than usual). There is a long road ahead for those impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles, particularly those caring at home for a loved one with dementia. To support the extenuating needs of caregiving Angelenos, HFC is extending emergency cash grants to primary, unpaid caregivers whose ability to provide care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia has been disrupted by the wildfires. Caregivers who can answer “yes” to ALL of the following questions are eligible to apply: - Has the person you are caring for been professionally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Lewy body dementia (LBD), vascular dementia, mixed or other dementias, or Parkinson’s related dementia? - Have you or your loved one living with ADRD been displaced or has care been interrupted as a result of the LA Wildfires? - Are you facing financial and emotional hardships due to the LA Wildfires? - Is your primary place of residence in the state of California? Caregivers can apply through February 15, 2025, and grants will be awarded through March 1, 2025, or until funds are depleted. Learn more, apply, and support: https://bit.ly/40AxI3n – HFC recognizes that the LA wildfires are not the only natural disasters or national crises impacting caregivers. This emergency fund will continue to provide assistance in response to future emergencies in the U.S. We also offer non-emergency grants year-round to help caregivers in need. Applications for these grants are always open, and we encourage those impacted to apply or share the opportunity with others who might benefit. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4hrpe5C.
