StormTrap

A large industrial site in Walnut, California, required significant stormwater storage to meet project requirements for a new 270,000 square-foot building and parking lot. Due to various landscaping and utility constraints, the development had limited space available. StormTrap was selected to provide an underground detention system, designed to minimize footprint, accommodate deep cover, and handle heavy vehicle traffic loading. See photos below of the uniquely shaped basin engineered using 3’-0” SingleTrap pieces. The system was placed underneath the parking lot and provides 21,420 cubic feet of water storage. This one-hundred-and-fifty-four-piece basin manages 119,762 cubic feet of water on-site for the neighborhood shopping center. A new residence hall is being constructed at Purdue University, south of an existing student housing facility. This eight-story, 252,525 square-foot building will bring eight hundred ninety-six beds to campus. As part of the project, StormTrap provided an underground stormwater detention system using 7’-0” SingleTrap pieces. The City of Saint Paul, Minnesota, is building a new community center. This 25,000-square-foot building will include a gym, fitness rooms, and an outdoor plaza, among others, as well as improvements to an existing six-acre park. As part of the project, an underground stormwater management solution was required. See photos below of the large 6’-0” DoubleTrap basin designed in consideration of limited space on-site. After a rain event, the vault is drained through a connection to a wetwell and lift station that pumps the water out of the basin. The system was installed in just two days and manages 36,783 cubic feet of stormwater.
