Mana is currently prototyping high-energy "anode-free" sodium batteries, which we've proven in small prototype cells to beat the stack-level energy density (Wh/L) of LFP Li-ion at a projected half-the-cost. The anode-free sodium battery cell will also be competitive vs. future LFP variations, like "LMFP," that are currently in R&D. We plan to manufacture the anode-free sodium battery cell via Joint Venture, partnering with existing battery cell manufacturers. Along the way, we will sell/license our "secret sauce," a low-cost, low-viscosity, and safe liquid electrolyte as an enabling solution to others in the sodium-ion space. These solutions will make possible viable and competitive 2-8 hour duration grid energy storage systems (Mana electrolytes for safety and maximum lifetime) and the <$20,000 EV (the anode-free cell). Reach out if you'd like to learn more, see data, or discuss sampling. info@manabattery.us Thanks for the highlight BizWest. https://lnkd.in/gDUESsjP

Mana joined Colorado Cleantech as a member company! We are excited to be official with CCIA and looking forward to helping build the community in Colorado.
Welcome new Colorado Cleantech member Mana Battery, Inc.! Mana’s sodium-ion battery technology enables best-in-class cost, safety, and performance for the grid ESS and low-cost EV markets. Batteries are still 40-60% too expensive for broad application in grid energy storage applications (>4 hour duration), and most of the world still can't buy a <$20,000 EV. Sodium-ion batteries are a solution to battery cost but lack the energy density and/or lifetime for viability. Founded in 2023 by experienced battery technologists and entrepreneurs, Mana Battery delivers on the promise of the sodium-ion battery through a proprietary low-cost, fire-extinguishing electrolyte platform and a high-energy battery cell design that offers higher energy density than LFP Li-ion at half-the-cost. https://lnkd.in/gDJUi9Wh Mana has been selected for advancement to contract negotiations for its Sodium-Ion Battery Seedling project, joining significant recent funding efforts by the DOE to advance US competitiveness in energy storage technologies. Thank you to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Vehicle Technologies Office for the selection. If we initiate and execute the project, Mana will deliver prototype sodium-ion cells containing our flagship technology - an advanced, low cost, self-extinguishing electrolyte formulation designed specifically to enhance lifetime and safety in sodium-ion cells - to a select group of partners including EV manufacturers, pack manufacturers, and a national laboratory.

Mana Battery, Inc. reposted this
👏 A round of applause for Cohort 3 innovator Heather A. S. Platt and her startup Mana Battery, Inc. for earning $500,000 from ARPA-E's SPARKS program (short for Spurring Projects to Advance energy Research and Knowledge Swiftly). This award will drive the startup's initial demonstration of a high energy, low-cost sodium #battery cell with a safe fluorine-free liquid electrolyte.
