Its been great to host this conference in Pittsburgh and connect with so many of our friends and colleagues!

When we first began exploring the idea of hosting the inaugural JCC Maccabi Campus Games, we faced many questions—did we have the resources, the community interest, and the right environment to bring such a significant Jewish event to life? Now, nearly a year later, we are proud to say that the momentum has exceeded all expectations. With over $3 million raised and 116 athletes already registered for Team Pittsburgh—plus an additional 16 athletes from our Partnership2Gether cities in Israel and Poland—the excitement continues to build. Thanks to our partnership with the University of Pittsburgh and other top venues, the 2025 Games (August 3-8) will be the first to offer a true college-campus experience for athletes ages 13-17. As we prepare to welcome Jewish athletes from around the world, we are reminded of the power of sports to unite, inspire, and strengthen our community.

This week’s JCC State of Mind, written by Abbey Plumb, reflects on the growth of our youth programs since the pandemic. 🌳 It’s all about building kehilah (community)—from Purim celebrations to Spirit Week at Clubhouse, we’re celebrating individuality while strengthening our collective bond.

Purim meets Olympic-sized chutzpah! 🏅🎭 In a completely fictional (but wildly entertaining) turn of events, the IOC has moved the 2028 Olympics to Pittsburgh—all thanks to the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh’s gold-medal spirit. From Primanti’s-inspired opening ceremonies to pierogi relay races, this Purim edition of JCC State of Mind brings the laughs. Our membership team utilized the JCC’s Volunteer Time Off (VTO) yesterday to give back at JFCS, organizing donations for refugees. We’re proud to encourage our employees to get out there and make a difference!
