H3X Technologies 🤝 HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær Simulation and models are nice, but only get you so far. Testing often and early is critical to rapid product development and you need data that you can actually trust. That’s why we partnered with HBK and use their state-of-the-art sensors and power analyzers in our dyno test cells for performance characterization. Check out the case study below to see how we're using their tools to push the bounds of performance!

We're now building ultra-high power density turbogenerators for #defense applications at H3X Technologies 🛡️ The HPDG-12 is a highly integrated 12kWe powerplant solution that weighs only 11kg and is composed of a microturbine and an HPDM-30 with integrated power electronics for stable HVDC output. With two hours of fuel, the energy density of the system is 578 Wh/kg, more than 2.5x higher than current battery systems. The product is perfect for small hybrid applications that want to take advantage of the performance benefits offered by electric propulsion while also leveraging the superior energy density of liquid fuels. Note: We've already successfully tested on JP-10 heavy fuel. Product page in the comments below ⬇️ Here is a picture of the benchtop configuration we've been testing. Shoot me a message if you want more details.

We do a lot of electromagnetics design optimization at H3X and JMAG Designer has been an indispensable tool in our arsenal. Some highlights from the recent optimization work being done for our next-gen 180 kW HPDM IMD: - 20,000 optimization cases 🔄 - 40% reduction in full load electromagnetic loss ⚡ - 60 deg C reduction in peak stator temperatures ❄️ - 36% reduction in stator material costs 💸 Shout out to JSOL Corporation and Powersys for being incredible partners in our electromagnetic design process!

H3X has been awarded a $1.9M TACFI contract with the United States Air Force to advance hybrid-electric powerplants for eVTOL aircraft in military operations. We’re excited to build on our successful Phase II work with AFWERX and continue our collaboration. Electrified aircraft have the potential to provide the Air Force with a range of cost-effective crewed and uncrewed aircraft capable of performing new and valuable missions. These aircraft offer operational independence from traditional runways, increased maneuverability, and the ability to operate from decentralized bases. Hybrid-electric propulsion systems, which combine an engine with an electric machine to generate electricity for propulsion, are now making it possible to harness the benefits of electric motors while also leveraging the superior energy density of liquid fuels. This architecture allows for greater range and endurance, while also eliminating the need for charging infrastructure in forward operating locations, further enhancing their operational utility. This ensures that electric aircraft can meet operational requirements for mission success while benefiting from the strengths of both technologies.
