Great news from the West: PacifiCorp, the largest grid operator in the Western U.S., has publicly released plans to integrate gigawatts of iron-air batteries into its future portfolio. ⚡ In their 2025 Integrated Resource Plan, recently filed with state regulators, PacifiCorp identified that its preferred resource portfolio includes 500 megawatts of iron-air batteries by 2030. The plan also contemplates more than 3,000 megawatts by 2045. Why? Rigorous modeling from the PacifiCorp team showed that multi-day energy storage is a cost-effective way to meet the utility’s growing demand and reliability needs.
