This week, we conclude our Environmental Education Series, focused on Biofuels, Anaerobic Digestion, and Water Treatment. This initiative, funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has seen an impressive 86 students registered for this spring 2025 semester alone. Over the past two years, the ERC has successfully delivered the three-session series to 366 students, surpassing our goal by over 150 participants. A huge thank you to our guest speakers—Caroline Hernandez, Catherine OReilly, Marcello Pibiri, Rachel Dame, and Steffen Mueller—whose expertise and insights have greatly enriched the learning experiences of our STEM Scholars. Your contributions have been instrumental to the success of our program. Thank you for being a part of this important initiative.

Our student #AssessmentTeam has been busy! This time learning about #PlasticInjectionMolding and collaborating with the client to identify #energysaving measures. What a great way to bring #studentengineers out of the classroom and into the #field and #realworld through an Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy | U.S. Department of Energy program!
The UIC Industrial Training and Assessment Center completed another #EnergyAssessment today for Plastipak, located in Alsip, Illinois, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable #packaging and #recycling solutions. Our host and partner, JJ Nuesmeyer, highlighted the #manufacturing process of #PlasticContainers for various sectors. The team observed a number of #BestPractices and also identified potential #energysaving opportunities to consider. Great job to our #LeadStudent Jahin Tatha and supporting University of Illinois Chicago College of Engineering students Md Rashed Hossain, Malhar Gaikwad, Prathmesh Vipra, Kaitav Parikh, Jay Shinde, and Jaswin Sri Raj Dasari and staff Clifford Haefke, Marcello Pibiri, and Lin Li. Interested in engaging with this fun #StudentTeam to educate them on your manufacturing process and collaborate with them to identify #energysaving opportunities? Then send us a message today!
