UIC's DOE ITAC Assessment team visited Precoat Metals this week, a coil-coated metal solutions #manufacturing plant in Portage, Indiana. It was an engaging assessment with Anu Singh and Rich Gast as the #studentengineering team learned about the #coilcoatedmetal industry while identifying and brainstorming potential #Energy and #WasteReduction opportunities. The assessment was led by #LeadStudent Kaitav Parikh, supported by fellow University of Illinois Chicago College of Engineering students Jaswin Sri Raj Dasari, Md Rashed Hossain, Malhar Gaikwad, Gaurav Vankhede, Jahin Tatha, Jay Shinde, and Luo Zhang, and supervised by UIC Energy Resources Center engineers Marcello Pibiri and Clifford Haefke. According to Anu Singh, P.E., Director of EHS, Precoat Metals, "AZZ Precoat Metals benefited from the energy and waste assessment conducted by the University of Illinois Chicago, which identified valuable opportunities for #ImprovingEfficiency, #ReducingCosts, #IncreasingBusinessCompetitiveness, and #ReinforcingSustainability.”

The UIC Industrial Training and Assessment Center completed another #EnergyAssessment today for Plastipak, located in Alsip, Illinois, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable #packaging and #recycling solutions. Our #engineering student team was back in action on an #energy assessment at Bales Metal Surface Solutions, a #manufacturer of high-quality #coatings and #finishes that make metal parts stronger, smoother, and more reliable.
