Mons, Wallonia: a place where "research and entrepreneurship work hand-in-hand". Straight off the back of Cleantech Venture Day Amsterdam, Cambridge Cleantech COO, Sylvie Russell, has been exploring the #SuperCluster region! Bringing Cambridge to Mons, Sylvie spoke about the range of climate-tech focused events going on at Cambridge Cleantech, from the local Climate Tech Club to our jointly-organised international ClimAccelerator, and so many more. This is what the Climate Tech SuperCluster is about—accelerating decarbonisation through large-scale ecosystem development—join today. UMONS Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
😌Close your eyes, if I say: An old city, a body of water running through it, university buildings, science and technology parks just outside the city, and networking organisations? What do you see? Oxford? Cambridge? Let’s add: St George is their town patron, their new train station is an architectural jewel… and they speak French but it is not in France! Where are we now? Last week I discovered Mons, in Wallonia, Belgium. I was invited by UMONS Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship to give a talk about the Cambridge ecosystem and Cambridge Cleantech. It was great to share how we support our members and create new connection opportunities via, for example, the Climate Tech Club, the Deep Tech accelerator, the upcoming #CleantechVentureDay and our links with GreenWin and the District Cleantech. It was also an occasion to highlight the fact that climate tech innovation is not in one central place, and that to create an impact, you have to extend your horizon, be open to new ideas, and be part of a wider community. This is exactly what the Climate Tech SuperCluster initiative is about. My takes from the event: - UMONS has great ambitions and a will to make an impact - Research and entrepreneurship work hand-in-hand thanks to their Innovation Network and various other platforms, enabling ideas to become reality. - Watch this space as we develop new opportunities between our respective networks - Plus their sense of humour is one to discover, as well as their sparkling wine! Sharing the mic with the Rector, Philippe Dubois, Vice Rector, Ruddy Wattiez, Jonathan Pardo, and Nathalie Leboeuf representing Monsieur le Ministre Adrien DOLIMONT, PhD was an honour. Special thanks to Olivier Vande Vyver and his team for organising the event. Great to see again Marc Van Den Neste, Pierard Dominique and of course, to meet new people! Meet People - Make Impact. Ensemble, on va plus loin.
