It’s a BIG milestone day for CO280 and durable #CDR! We’re honored to announce one of the world’s largest engineered CDR offtake agreements to date – a partnership with Microsoft who will purchase 3.69 million tonnes of CDR over 12 years from our first project at a pulp and paper mill in the US Gulf Coast.    We’re incredibly grateful to Microsoft for their trust, collaboration, and leadership! Microsoft’s unwavering commitment to advancing high-quality, permanent carbon removal has propelled the entire industry forward and inspired a generation of entrepreneurs and innovators including CO280.   We know our success builds on the foundations laid down by others. We’re proud to stand on those foundations as we scale a 10+ million tonne per year network of efficient, bankable, repeatable CDR projects — built with our pulp and paper partners and supported by a growing ecosystem of technology suppliers, transport and storage developers, project investors, and other communities.   Please reach out if you want to learn more about CO280 and check out our open positions to join us on this journey.  info@co280.com https://lnkd.in/gtxT9x2T

  • 🇬🇧The UK government has launched an Independent Review of Greenhouse Gas Removals (#GGRs) to inform policy, compare costs with global benchmarks, and explore opportunities for scaling removal activities in the U.K. The review signals continued growth in the sector and reinforces the role of CDR as a necessary complement to emissions reductions and a critical tool in the UK’s net zero strategy. It also provides a timely opportunity to highlight UK leadership, clarify regulatory pathways, and support public sector adoption. The Carbon Business Council welcomes the launch of this review and its potential to advance high-integrity carbon removal. 📄 Read the full terms of reference: https://lnkd.in/gnKtZDpu #CarbonRemoval #NetZero #ClimatePolicy #UKClimateAction #GHGRemoval

  • 🌍 In the race to tackle climate change, innovators are turning to an unexpected ally: 🪨 rock. The latest video in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal docuseries explores enhanced rock weathering (ERW), an emerging carbon removal method that uses byproducts from quarries, mining, and the built environment to reduce CO₂ in the atmosphere, while improving soil health and boosting local economies. ERW accelerates a natural process where minerals capture and store carbon dioxide from the air. By integrating this technique into farms, forests, and managed land areas, ERW offers a dual benefit: long-term carbon storage and enhanced land productivity. 📣 We're proud to see Carbon Business Council members leading the charge: 🇺🇸 Lithos Carbon – Repurposing mine waste to improve soil and help remove carbon on U.S. farms 🇮🇳 Mati Carbon – Partnering with smallholder farmers to apply quarry fines for durable CDR 🇬🇧 UNDO – Scaling ERW in collaboration with farmers and the quarry industry 🇨🇦 Arca – Using autonomous rovers to help accelerate carbon mineralization at mine sites These innovators are proving that carbon removal can support industries like agriculture and construction, driving economic growth while helping meet climate goals. 🌱 🎥 Watch the video: https://lnkd.in/gmwqFhZC #CarbonRemoval #EnhancedWeathering #XPRIZECarbonRemoval #NetZero
