📣 Major announcement: New semiconductor chip design centre coming to South Wales, creating 100+ highly skilled jobs! The Cadence Design Centre will address skill shortages and strengthen Wales' growing semiconductor cluster. A collaboration between Welsh Government, Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult and Cadence the centre will also establish graduate training programmes with local universities, developing the next generation of Welsh tech talent. This collaboration is a brilliant example of inward investment into Wales creating more jobs. At the NVIDIA GTC conference this week in San Jose, Technology Secretary Peter Kyle spoke about how our new AI Growth Zones will accelerate international investment through improved regulation and dedicated infrastructure, helping to grow our $92 billion AI sector. While in the US, he met with quantum focused Rigetti Computing and tech companies OpenAI, Anthropic, and Vantage Data Centers to further position the UK as a global hub for AI investment, with the latter recently investing £12 billion into UK data infrastructure which will create 11,500 jobs.
