Be A(I)ware of Discrimination in AI Decisions 🚫
This is a recommendation from the Be A(I)ware campaign by the University of Brighton.
AI isn’t neutral. It can reflect and amplify #biases related to #culture, #gender, #ethnicity, and #age. When trained on biased data, AI can reinforce discrimination in recruitment, hiring, public services, and more.
To ensure fair and inclusive outcomes, AI must be trained on diverse, representative data.
For example, an AI hiring tool trained mostly on data from one gender or ethnicity may unfairly favour that group, overlooking qualified candidates from others.
Business and government leaders—especially HR, equality, and diversity officers—must demand AI systems that are transparent, accountable, and fair.
What can we do? 🛠️
- Train AI on inclusive, diverse data
- Ensure transparency in AI decisions
- Adopt ethical AI policies
