𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 – 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆 This World Autism Day, we recognise the importance of cultivating truly inclusive workplaces - ones where neurodivergent talent isn’t just accommodated but empowered to thrive. Just last month, Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 17-23) reminded us that embracing cognitive differences isn’t just the right thing to do - it fuels innovation, creativity, and better business outcomes. One organisation leading the charge in our industry is NDIM - Neurodiversity in Media (NDIM). NDIM's 𝟰𝗦 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼 lays out four key areas for real workplace change: 🟠 𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗦 – Flexible processes that allow diverse minds to work in ways that suit them. 🟠 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗦 – Environments designed for focus, collaboration, and comfort. 🟠 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 – A culture where people can be their authentic selves, free from bias. 🟠 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 – Practical tools and empathetic leadership that ensure no one is left behind. At Conscious Advertising Network, we believe 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. By breaking down barriers and challenging outdated norms, we unlock new opportunities for creativity, connection, and sustainable growth. Incredible event in Brasilia last week! The Climate Information Integrity Summit organised by FALA - estúdio de Impacto, Climate Action Against Disinformation and Conscious Advertising Network. Speakers from the United Nations, the Brazilian Government, UNESCO, the UK government, the EU, indigenous communities, climate and social science, advertising, journalism and civil society came together to discuss the climate and information integrity twin crises. It was both inspiring and emotional. A panel including Kate Cell of the Union of Concerned Scientists talked about the abuse faced by scientists (yes, people who have dedicated their lives to helping us understand the world). While we heard from indigenous people and land defenders who were being murdered, threatened and thrown off their land by soy bean producers. It was moving and devastating. Unsustainable beef and soy comes at such a huge cost. Our panel talked about how advertisers can become allies in the fight for information integrity. We covered monetisation, fraud, creativity in the service of a better world, and how information integrity is good for business. It was also awesome to be at the launch of the Brazilian Chapter of the Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate Change. This will be such a big topic at COP30 in Brazil in November. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 This Women’s History Month, CAN’s Project Director, Marsha Jackson, joined an inspiring panel at E-ACT City Heights Academy to spark conversations about empowerment, allyship, and equality - critical values that shape not just individuals but entire industries, including advertising. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. From leadership and self-confidence to respect and representation, the students explored what it means to challenge outdated norms and create a more inclusive future. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁. Boys reflected on the language they use and how to be active allies, while girls discussed leadership, owning their skills, and stepping into their power. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 - 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱. Marsha’s discussion on equality in football sparked fresh perspectives, proving that when we open up space for dialogue, we open up space for change. 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹. Investing in the next generation isn’t just about shaping future leaders—it’s about learning from them, too. Their perspectives challenge us to build industries where advertising works for everyone. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 - 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱. Want CAN to feature at your event? The UK government’s inquiry into harmful social media algorithms and misinformation was launched in direct response to the Southport riots last summer - a deeply troubling example of how AI-driven platforms can fuel real-world harm. Last week, I was very pleased to have the opportunity to provide evidence with Conscious Advertising Network to this inquiry on such a critical issue. The way digital advertising operates today means that harmful content, whether misinformation, hate speech, or fraud, can be unintentionally funded by advertisers without their knowledge. This lack of transparency and accountability poses serious risks, and I welcomed the chance to highlight the urgent need for regulatory action and industry reform. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensuring that advertising does not fuel online harm but instead contributes to a safer, more responsible digital ecosystem. I hope this inquiry leads to meaningful change, and I look forward to continuing the conversation on how we can make online spaces safer for all. Thank you Yeo Joung Suh and Alex Murray for the great teamwork in getting our crucial message out to the right places to make a difference. https://lnkd.in/eP9aerzZ #onlinesafety #sustainablemarketing #programmaticadvertising #misinformation #disinformation #hatespeech #adfraud
