Last Thursday, our COO, Sylvie Russell, spoke about the Cambridge climate tech ecosystem in front of 200 delegates in Mons, Wallonia, highlighting how we nurture the ecosystem through events like Climate Tech Club, our deep tech accelerators, and Cleantech Venture Day. She also had the opportunity to talk about the work of our member innovators, representing their ground-breaking work all the way in Belgium! 🔗 Become a member today through the link in the comments. Meet People - Make Impact. UMONS Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
😌Close your eyes, if I say: An old city, a body of water running through it, university buildings, science and technology parks just outside the city, and networking organisations? What do you see? Oxford? Cambridge? Let’s add: St George is their town patron, their new train station is an architectural jewel… and they speak French but it is not in France! Where are we now? Last week I discovered Mons, in Wallonia, Belgium. I was invited by UMONS Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship to give a talk about the Cambridge ecosystem and Cambridge Cleantech. It was great to share how we support our members and create new connection opportunities via, for example, the Climate Tech Club, the Deep Tech accelerator, the upcoming #CleantechVentureDay and our links with GreenWin and the District Cleantech. It was also an occasion to highlight the fact that climate tech innovation is not in one central place, and that to create an impact, you have to extend your horizon, be open to new ideas, and be part of a wider community. This is exactly what the Climate Tech SuperCluster initiative is about. My takes from the event: - UMONS has great ambitions and a will to make an impact - Research and entrepreneurship work hand-in-hand thanks to their Innovation Network and various other platforms, enabling ideas to become reality. - Watch this space as we develop new opportunities between our respective networks - Plus their sense of humour is one to discover, as well as their sparkling wine! Sharing the mic with the Rector, Philippe Dubois, Vice Rector, Ruddy Wattiez, Jonathan Pardo, and Nathalie Leboeuf representing Monsieur le Ministre Adrien DOLIMONT, PhD was an honour. Special thanks to Olivier Vande Vyver and his team for organising the event. Great to see again Marc Van Den Neste, Pierard Dominique and of course, to meet new people! Meet People - Make Impact. Ensemble, on va plus loin.

That's a wrap on Cleantech Venture Day Amsterdam! 🎉 We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our speakers and panellists from across the day! We opened with two engaging talks from key industry voices: first a keynote from Mark Daly (BloombergNEF), on the future of climate tech, followed by a talk from Sander, van Stiphout (Johan Cruijff ArenA) about cities in transition. After that, our speakers were joined onstage by Chantal Schrijver (European Investment Bank (EIB)), and Sam Goodall (Climate Tech SuperCluster), for a panel discussion on climate tech in a changing Europe, facilitated by Jim Totty (Viridis). From there the day split in two - in the NEMO Science Museum boardroom and theatre we ran the Climate Tech SuperCluster Innovation Forum, and in the main auditorium our wonderful pitching companies presented to a room full of investors and industry leaders, with thought-provoking talks by Catherine Joce CEnv, Oscar Escalante, David Dekker, and Hannah Scott breaking up the sessions. The first Innovation Forum session was a roundtable run in collaboration between Climate Tech SuperCluster and Cambridge Consultants featuring exploration of the role Virtual Power Plants and wider grid flexibility technologies will play in the next phases of grid decarbonisation. Later Innovation Forum sessions, facilitated by ThinkPlace and run in collaboration with Johan Cruijff ArenA, focused on 'city energy partnerships' and 'the future of mobility'. Thank you to all of our attendees, speakers, organisers, pitching companies, and everyone else who attended this landmark event in Cleantech Venture Day's history! 🎉🥳 If you want to get involved at our London Cleantech Venture Day event in June, applications to pitch close tomorrow and early bird tickets are linked in the description 🔗🔽 . We just finished the third session of today! In the auditorium, we heard from Oxfordshire Greentech’s Hannah Scott, who introduced us of the complexities and breadth of industrial decarbonisation as we race to net zero. Then, we heard from key startups, including Aetosense, Electrogenos, Brabetech B.V., and other companies worth keeping an eye on as the market shifts towards renewables. In the board room, the second interactive session focused on urban mobility and sustainability, including discussions around Amsterdam’s own sustainability plans and how these can represent an example beyond the Netherlands. Stay tuned on our channels for more information about how today went at #cleantechventureday in Amsterdam’s NEMO science museum. For now, a huge thank you to the startups, investors, partners, and attendees who together made today a success! See you in London!

Afternoon update! Live from #CleantechVentureDay with the Climate Tech SuperCluster. We just finished up the second investment session, focusing on the mobility transition—thank you to a great opening from David Dekker! We then heard pitches from FLIT, SELANA, Uze.energy, and Squad Mobility, innovators who are driving mobility forward. Pictured below is the pitch from ⚡ Kris Verdonck from Uze.energy, and some shots from our interactive workshop hosted by ThinkPlace, focused on energy partnerships in cities. Looking forward to the next session, where we will learn about cutting edge innovations in industrial decarbonisation! #CVDAmsterdam
