Today, our team had the pleasure of visiting the villages of Mlali and Mangae for an agricultural seminar led by our agronomist. They held an open meeting with local farmers and other key stakeholders including agro-input #suppliers. The session focused on tackling the challenges faced by farmers and introducing them to modern techniques that can boost productivity on their farms. We emphasized the critical role of #soil testing services ahead of each planting season. Farmers learned how soil analysis can help them choose the right crops, apply appropriate fertilizers, and reduce unnecessary costs. The response was overwhelmingly #positive, with many expressing eagerness to start using the service immediately. We are deeply grateful for the warm reception from the #community. This engagement has revealed a strong demand for knowledge and quality services among our farmers. Another day representing MazaoHub at the First National Avocado Stakeholders’ Forum in Tanzania 🥑. This important forum was held under the theme “Quality Avocados, Stable Markets for Sustainable Economic Growth” and I was honored to be part of the #conversation, #learning and #engaging on key issues shaping the future of avocado farming in Tanzania. The three major resolutions that stood out from the forum were: 1. Increasing productivity of avocados 2. Improving market access 3. Establishing production guidelines and regulations What captured my attention most was the discussion around #market access. It was eye-opening to learn that through partnerships with TAHA, the agricultural sector🌱 has successfully opened market doors to several global regions: 🥑Europe remains the largest consumer at 41% 🥑India is a rapidly growing market, now accounting for 30% of avocado purchases 🥑Middle East buyers contribute 19% 🥑China, #South Africa, and #Kenya together take up 11% These insights have shed light on the incredible opportunities that exist for Tanzanian smallholder farmers if only we can connect them to the right markets with the right #standards. I was keen to understand the mechanisms behind these successes and see how through MazaoHub’s integrated digital platform, we can continue to bridge the gap for smallholder farmers and make their produce export-ready. I can’t wait to see how the private sector can continue to contribute meaningfully — because agricultural transformation needs collective action and strategic market linkages. Much credits to Madam Irene Madeje Mlola the whole Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA) Team and the ministry of Agriculture for making this happen.
