Big news from Open Ocean Robotics!!!—their DataXplorer Gen 2 is now commercially available! This is a game-changer for ocean monitoring, security, and offshore energy. Why is this important? Traditionally, collecting ocean data requires costly, fuel-intensive vessels and puts crews in dangerous conditions. Whether monitoring illegal fishing, marine pollution, or offshore infrastructure, current methods are expensive, high-risk, and often inefficient. Enter DataXplorer Gen 2—a solar-powered, uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) that autonomously gathers real-time ocean data. It: ✅ Reduces human risk—no need for crews in harsh conditions ✅ Cuts operational costs—autonomous, solar-powered, and fuel-free ✅ Provides 24/7 monitoring—ideal for security, environment, and offshore energy ✅ No noise pollution - protecting marine life This is the kind of innovation we need to scale the blue economy sustainably! 🌍 Check out the specs & learn more: https://lnkd.in/gxB57Avz Jonas Skattum Svegaarden, Ross Brooks, Ingrid H. We're thrilled to see the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport highlight the groundbreaking achievements of our portfolio company, ICODOS, in advancing sustainable marine fuels. 🌱⚓ This initiative is particularly significant for the shipping sector, which faces challenges in electrification due to long-distance operations. By producing e-methanol from biogenic sources, ICODOS offers a viable pathway to decarbonize maritime transport. ICODOS in partnership with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Stadtentwässerung Mannheim, has launched Mannheim 001, the world’s first fully integrated e-methanol plant. Using a patented process, it captures CO₂ from wastewater emissions and converts it into climate-neutral marine fuel. A huge step toward decarbonizing shipping! Jonas Skattum Svegaarden, Ross Brooks, Ingrid H. Maurstad Sam Selig Anthony Bellafiore Kabir P. Sindre Østgård Tharald Nustad Olivia Mawdsley Lucretia Chopera Maureen Brésil Katapult Katapult Foundation David Strittmatter #SustainableShipping #RenewableFuels #Decarbonization #ICODOS
🙌 Bildquelle: ICODOS GmbH. David Strittmatter Stadt Mannheim Christian Specht
