Fantastic to see numbers for water quality go the right way. We in the industry know how much effort and resource has been devoted to this by farmers and processors across the country. Carbery has prioritised water quality for several years now, including making it a mandatory measure for our farmers to receive any FutureProof sustainability bonus payment. 93% of our milkpool is now from farmer shareholders implementing FutureProof measures. With all of the work underway in the sector we hope to see these improvements continue. https://lnkd.in/edazBRJJ

Congratulations to GlasPort Bio on their recent funding. We have been an early supporter of the technology, with their automated dosing system, GasAbate, in use on Shinagh Farm in Bandon as part of Carbery and BiOrbic Research Ireland Centre for Bioeconomy’s #FarmZeroC project. We partnered in 2020 to enhance the effectiveness of the product before installing it in 2021. It has reduced both methane and ammonia emissions from the farm’s stored slurry significantly (up to 75%).
GlasPort Bio provides a sustainable solution for farmers eager to reduce their emissions from manure during storage - read today's piece in RTE on the reality of using GasAbate on an Irish dairy farm. #GasAbate #Manuremanagement #GHGemissions https://lnkd.in/e23MGbkH

Tune in to Ear to the Ground tonight where Carbery shareholder Denis O’Donovan is talking about his experience with #clover #EartotheGround
My second journal article from my PhD thesis, "Lowering greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions from grassland-based dairy production", was recently published in Agricultural Systems. This study quantifies the emissions reductions achieved by clover-based dairy systems at Solohead Research Farm. I also had the privilege of contributing to this week's Ear to the Ground, which highlights how forward-thinking dairy farmers like Denis O'Donovan are adopting clover to lower emissions and boost profitability. I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity to apply my technical knowledge and benefit from the experience of farmers such as Denis to influence the sustainability of our own dairy farm to make positive changes for the future of the business. You can read the full journal article here: https://lnkd.in/eqB-Y2mY. A huge thank you to my co-authors and colleagues at Teagasc and South East Technological University for their support, as well as the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for funding this project. Tune in to Ear to the Ground on RTÉ One this Thursday to see the positive steps being taken to reduce emissions on Irish dairy farms.

Celebrating International Day of Women & Girls in Science 👩🔬 Science has no boundaries - it’s a universal language that empowers, innovates, and transforms lives. Hear from some of the incredible women at Carbery Group who are shaping the future of food science and inspiring the next generation. 💡 In the US, Mary Maile reminds us that science is a powerful force for breaking barriers and encouraging women and girls to dream big. 🌱 In Thailand, Thanattha Jansrimanee leads the way in flavour innovation, ensuring we stay at the forefront of industry trends. 🧪 In the UK, Charlotte Spitzner shares how mentorship and determination helped her pursue a career in food chemistry - proving that belief in oneself is key. We are proud to support #WomeninSTEM this day, and every day, at Carbery Group. Synergy Flavors
