  • 🌏 SAF is supposed to be aviation’s big climate solution. ☘️ But right now? It’s less than 1% of total fuel use. So what's actually happening behind the buzz? We broke down: - Why production is the real bottleneck. 🍾 - Who’s producing SAF at commercial scale — like Neste, LanzaJet, and World Energy, LLC 🏭 - What Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer are doing to push 100% SAF ✈️ - And how certification, safety, and systems validation could make or break adoption. 🧪 We’re not SAF producers — but as aerospace engineers working in system #reliability and #certification, we’re watching closely. Because no matter how clean the fuel is, if it can’t fly safely and reliably, it’s not getting off the ground. 👀 🛫 👇 Check it out and let us know: Who's driving real progress in SAF? Who should we be paying attention to? #SAF #SustainableAviationFuel #Aerospace #CleanAviation #AviationSustainability

  • Our Avionics Team is Growing! 🛫 🥳 We’re excited to introduce José Luis Rofa, our newest #Avionics Systems Engineer, who brings a wealth of expertise from Airbus and a strong background in requirements writing and system certification. ✍ 🛠️ Having worked on multiple Airbus programs—including the A320, A330, A350, C295, and A400M—he has deep experience across FMS, Navigation, Surveillance, and MAP Systems. Now, he’s joining DMD Solutions to help expand our Avionics project scope and apply his expertise to new challenges.💡 Outside of aerospace, José Luis is a highly ranked international competitive card game judge and player 🃏 🏆 —with nearly 15 years of experience officiating at major tournaments and a Worlds-level competitor in Weiss Schwarz. This year, he’s set to compete again, aiming to surpass last year’s Top 16 finish. 🚀 Welcome to the team! We’re thrilled to have you on board and can’t wait to see the impact you make. ♠️ ✈️ 🎉

  • ✈️ How safe was it to fly in 2024? 🚧 🤔 The 2024 International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safety Report is in, and while aviation remains one of the #safest modes of transport, this year’s data highlights both achievements and areas that demand attention. 📉 1.13 accidents per million flights—that’s one accident per 880,000 flights. A slight increase from 1.09 in 2023 but still safer than the five-year average of 1.25. ⚠️ 7 fatal accidents resulted in 244 onboard fatalities across 40.6M flights—a sharp increase from 72 fatalities in 2023 and above the five-year average of 144. 📊 Top 3 Highest-Risk Regions (by accident rate): - Africa: 10.59 per million flights (highest globally), with runway excursions & landing gear issues as top causes. - Latin America & Caribbean: 1.77 per million flights, more than double 2023’s rate (0.73), with tail strikes as the main issue. - North America: 1.20 per million flights, a decrease from 1.53 in 2023, but remains one of the most accident-prone regions. 🤔 What’s Driving These Numbers? - Runway Excursions & Tail Strikes—the most common accident types, underscoring the need for enhanced takeoff and landing procedures. - Conflict Zones—Tragic downings in Kazakhstan (38 fatalities) and Sudan (5 fatalities) highlight the urgent need for airspace risk mitigation. - GNSS Interference—A growing concern in Türkiye, Iraq, and Egypt, with GPS jamming incidents threatening navigation safety. 👷 Safety in aviation isn’t static—it’s a continuous effort. While 2024’s data shows that flying remains incredibly safe, regional trends and emerging risks require proactive mitigation. 📊 At DMD Solutions we are always working to enhance safety and reliability in the sector. What’s your take on this year’s safety trends? Which risks should the industry focus on in 2025? 🔍 Check out the full report: https://lnkd.in/dKPnvnA3

  • ✈️ The Future of Sustainable Aviation: Can We Reach Net Zero? Aviation accounts for 2.5% of global CO₂ emissions, but with non-CO₂ effects, its climate impact is closer to 4%. With air travel demand set to double by 2050, the industry faces a critical challenge: How do we cut emissions while keeping aviation viable? 🤔 International Air Transport Association (IATA) and International Civil Aviation Organization are working towards net-zero pledges, but this requires new and innovative technological solutions. 💡 🌍 Solutions shaping the future of flight: 🔹 🚀 Sustainable Aviation Fuel (#SAF): Could account for 65% of needed emission reductions—but production must scale. 🔹 🔋 #Hydrogen-Powered Aircraft: A zero-emission alternative, but storage and infrastructure pose hurdles. 🔹 🛩️ #Lightweight Materials: Carbon-fiber composites & 3D printing reduce aircraft weight, boosting efficiency. 🔹 ✈️ Improved #Aerodynamics: Blended wing bodies & adaptive wings minimize drag and lower fuel burn. 🔹 📊 AI & Flight #Optimization: Smarter route planning & predictive maintenance cut unnecessary emissions. 🚀 Swipe through our latest slide deck to explore how these technologies are reshaping aviation! 📚 Want to dive deeper? • 🚀 UAV Regulation is Evolving!    At #XPONENTIAL, we spoke with Federico Buccheri, Safety Assessment Expert at EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, about the challenges and direction of #UAV certification in Europe. 🌍     Federico highlighted to Marta Gouveia and Juan Manuel Martinez that from a certification and safety standpoint 👷 the workload for compliance is significant, and many UAV operators make strong assumptions that often require EASA to realign them with EU regulations. 🚁     📢 In early February, EASA released final Means of Compliance (MoC) for Specific Assurance and Integrity Levels (#SAIL) V and VI: MOC Light-UAS High Risk.2510-01. This MoC lays out the stringent technical safety objectives derived from OSO #5 for high-risk drone operations, including:       ✅ Comprehensive Safety Assessments Process and Safety Objectives – ensuring an acceptable safety level for equipment and systems in the UAS. 🦺     ✅ Fail-Safe Design Concepts – ensuring no single failure leads to catastrophic consequences. ‼️     ✅ Failure Condition Classifications – substantiating the effects of failure conditions with consideration to operational conditions and events when establishing the UAS and Systems FHA. ⚠️     ✅ Latent Failure and Crew considerations. 🛃     With #Certified Category MoCs in the works at EASA, we expect even more complex regulatory developments in the near future. 👀     🔍 Take a look at the latest changes in our article breaking down the final SAIL V & VI MoC Light-UAS High Risk.2510-01: https://lnkd.in/diqjc6ym   📄 Missed the MoC update for SAIL III?
