The shape and texture of artificial reefs are incredibly important for increasing marine biodiversity. That’s why we offer a range of artificial reef designs based on the ecosystems in which they will be deployed and target marine organisms. Our reefs are designed in-house by a computational designer, a marine scientist, and architects. We monitor our reefs using a scientific approach so we can provide our customers with quantitative data on their biodiversity impact. Would you like to work on a restoration project and increase marine biodiversity? We're coming to the end of the Kickstarter crowdfunding journey for ReefCircular ApS - where nearly half our reefs have been adopted, while others have claimed our digital coloring booklet or algae ink merchandise rewards! With a little over 2 days left, you can still show your support for our work with marine science and research, and claim one of the rewards left. When we say every little bit counts, we mean it. Research and development is both expensive and risky for small companies like ours, but I couldn't be prouder of the work that Camila Martínez Alarcón and Shannon Hanson, PhD put into our reef products and marine projects every single week. And if Kickstarter isn't your thing, our merchandise in Algae and Ocean Rill prints are also available on the WWF Verdensnaturfonden / WWF Denmark webshop, where we are proft-sharing 50% for non-profit. #algae #print #Kickstarter #projectswelove #artificialreef #reef #crowdfunding

Last week Shannon Hanson, PhD and Kathryn Larsen, ReefCircular ApS CSO and CEO, had the honour of being featured on BBC News Alba. We discussed our latest project with Seawilding trialing oyster restoration reefs made from ReefCircular’s new material, Aegironite®. We’ll be testing and gathering data on Aegironite® for another year in the lab and sea before launching commercially. In the meantime, we’re using artificial reefs made of clay for projects. This is because it requires less heat to produce than cement, has lower CO2 emissions, and has a pH optimum for marine life. Interested in improving marine biodiversity? Get in touch! We’re always happy to discuss projects using our artificial reefs designed in house by a marine scientist, computational designer, and architects 🌊 #marinebiodiversity #artificialreefs #restoration #marinescience #ocean #biomaterial

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝟯𝗗 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀? 🫁 Our oceans are the lungs of our planet -and they are under threat from climate change and human activity. Attending the Women in 3D Printing event a couple of weeks ago reminded me of the powerful role technology can play in protecting our oceans. Did you know that our oceans: • Generate 50% of the oxygen we need • Absorb 25% of all CO2 emissions • Capture 90% of the excess heat 🦀 ReefCircular ApS is turning shell waste into sea life. Kathryn Larsen is 3D printing artificial reefs made from bio concrete using waste oyster shells from fisheries - contributing to a circular economy while creating safe habitats for marine life. Very inspiring, right? My personal connection to the Ocean, I grew up near the Baltic Sea - swimming, building sandcastles, and playing with stones. Years later, I explored the ocean while diving - encountering dolphins, whales, turtles, and colorful fish. I've even been stung by a jellyfish! The ocean has shaped my life and made me passionate about protecting it. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝟯𝗗 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻: • ReefCircular is using 3D printing to create better homes for marine life and collecting data to understand how species interact with these reefs. • 3D printing allows us to produce on demand, reducing the carbon footprint of shipping and manufacturing. • It also minimizes waste, as materials like plastic, metal, ceramics, glass, and even human tissue can be used more efficiently. Around 10 years ago, I wrote my bachelor thesis on 3D printing - focusing mainly on hardware and the influence of business models on internationalisation strategies, using the example of Create it REAL. It’s fascinating to see how much 3D printing has evolved -becoming more user-friendly and accessible, with sustainable materials like bamboo and bio-based plastics now widely used. Thanks Valkyrie Savage for sharing your research. 🪸🌊𝗧𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, 𝗜’𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼: • Supporting diverse ocean protection programs: Turtle conservation, coral reef conservation and mangrove restoration program. • Choosing sustainable seafood to maintain species balance. • Reducing water use to prevent wastewater pollution. While diving, I take pictures and videos as a citizen scientist to share insights with the diving community. • Using eco-friendly products to minimize chemical runoff into waterways. • Sharing knowledge and content about my personal actions to inspire others. Excited to receive my ReefCircular ApS t-shirt — supporting marine life while backing innovation in 3D printing! P.S. They are still fundraising — you can support them! What are you doing to protect our oceans? I'd love to hear your thoughts! 💭💙 #b2bmarketing #startupecosytem #womenintech #circulareconomy #Brandstorytelling

Vi fik registreret over 2.3 millioner fisk i besøge.

Guess who will be on BBC News Alba 7PM (UK time) today! Shannon Hanson, PhD, CSO, co-founder and Kathryn Larsen, CEO, co-founder of ReefCircular ApS, one of the #startups from the shared lab CPHLabs in Symbion Community. They are currently testing one of their new reef product-design together with Seawilding in Scotland. It is seeded oyster restoration reefs that they test in Loch Craignish, Scotland, to measure how their developed reefs affect oyster survival and growth compared to sites without reefs. Testing of such reefs in Denmark would be great too as well an interview with ReefCircular ApS in Danish media. Let's hope all this comes soon. CPHLabs is a partnership between Symbion Community, Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen and REBBLS with support from Industriens Fond. More info here: https://cphlabs.dk/
Tonight you can watch our interview on BBC News Alba 7PM (UK time)! Shannon Hanson, PhD and I talk about our UK collaboration with Seawilding , the challenges our oceans face and why we design using biomimicry for different species. We also talk about our watershed moment testing Aegironite® for the first time in the ocean! #architecture #3dprint #biodiversity #biomimicry #design #artificialreef

In Loch Craignish, Scotland, ReefCircular ApS and Seawilding installed 30 temporary artificial oyster reef modules to test Aegironite®, our proprietary bioconcrete reef material made from shell waste. ReefCircular attached a total of 600 oyster spat to the reefs to monitor the growth and mortality rates over time and give the oysters a head start on life. We look forward to researching this over time! #reef #Aegironite #biodiversity #artificialreefs #3dprint #danskdesign #havmiljø #havvand
