What if you could channel a passion for art into a powerful tool for change? 🎨🌍 We’re sharing ESCP alumna Jo Bautista's inspiring journey in a new film produced for ESCP by BBC StoryWorks and presented by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The film is part of the larger #LeaderGeneration series, which showcases how business schools can play a key role in addressing the world’s most pressing #economic, #social, and #environmental challenges through responsible leadership. 🌱 In the film The art of values-based leadership, Jo Bautista shares how she turned her passion for painting into SendToGive, a social enterprise using art to support communities, particularly in her native country, the Philippines. 🎨🤝 Jo’s journey at ESCP, and as part of the MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, helped shape her future aspirations. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she co-founded SendToGive with fellow ESCP classmates, supported by ESCP professors, including Prof. Florian Lüdeke-Freund, who is also featured in the film. As he says in the film, “Leadership is not about telling people top-down what to do. Leadership is about being a role model in a group, leading by serving, and this is what our students really learn.” 🌱🌍 Watch the full film here: https://lnkd.in/eKHaYMii In the UK? There’s been a lot of dark news lately, so here’s something that can bring light.. literally! 💡⚡️ A few months ago, I started working on Project Tagbanua with my social enterprise SendToGive. It was a project to bring energy access to an indigenous community of 225 people called the Tagbanuas who have been promised access to electricity for years but never got it. Our team pulled together to fulfill that promise by purchasing and installing this solar energy system which now gives the Tagbanuas 1.5 KW of cost-free renewable energy daily! 🌞 Check out the video to learn more about how the system works. Having energy access is a pathway for the Tagbanuas to have increased productivity, comfort, and education. Bringing this project to life has been a source of hope for the Tagbanuas, and it’s been a source of hope for me. It’s a reminder that our wish for a better world is just an action away. And that when times get dark, it’s an opportunity for us to be the light! 💛 #socialentrepreneur #changemaker #philippines

The normal logic is that you have a house and then you install a solar grid on it. In the case of our project, we had a solar grid so we created a house! :) Our project to bring #solarenergy to the Tagbanuas turned into a bigger project to fortify the community center's roof, and then an even bigger project to turn the entire structure from termite-eaten wood to concrete. What seemed like an impossible task of building a house from the ground-up in a span of 3 days was achieved through a central theme to our work: the spirit of community, or in Filipino, #bayanihan. Fathers and mothers from surrounding towns came to help, giving up their daily wages and working nonstop to help the Tagbanuas finally gain #accesstoelectricity. People were passing around heavy materials under the hot afternoon sun and holding flashlights for each other in the darkness of night. Joyful Filipino music blasted into the air as we shared the belief that we would make it. This incredibly moving experience has taught us what we can achieve when we work towards one goal, and when we do it together. Thank you to everyone that was a part of this 💛 🙏 #Philippines #socialimpact

Meet Samson Oloto. He is using his time, talent, and social media skills to support SendToGive’s project to provide #solarenergy access to an indigenous community in the #Philippines. What is the motivation behind his actions, you might ask? Sam takes from his own memories and lived experience of not having access to electricity as a child. Sam's story shows how someone can turn their own personal experience of hardship into the chance for a brighter future for others. 💫 🙏 Watch this video and support our cause! What does having access to electricity have to do with #education? 🌙 Evening study is impossible without light — a dark home limits reading and doing homework beyond daylight hours. 📚 School facilities are unwelcoming and uncomfortable — without electricity, classrooms miss out on basic amenities like lighting and proper ventilation. 💻 Digital education tools are out of the question — computers, online learning, and educational software all depend on electricity. Particularly for #indigenouspeople in the #Philippines who live off-grid in remote areas, getting to school can be a real challenge. Check out this video which shows the route that children from an indigenous community called Tagbanua have to take twice a day. Can you imagine your own children having to trek this path just to pursue their studies? Our team at SendToGive is working on bringing solar energy access to this community of 225 people to support their education and long-term development. We've got a fundraising gap of about 2,000 Euros and don't want this to get in the way of a brighter future for the Tagbanuas. Click the link in the bio to support! I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with SendToGive, a fantastic non-profit organization with a mission to transform lives through generosity and community-driven projects in the Philippines. I’ve been supporting their social media strategy and it's been a rewarding experience to work with the Founder, Jo Bautista! What’s been truly inspiring is seeing firsthand the impact they’re making with initiatives like Project Tagbanua, which is currently focused on providing much-needed resources to an indigenous community in the Philippines. The work Jo and the rest of the team at SendToGive are doing through Project Tagbanua is powerful, and there’s a real opportunity for us all to make a difference. If you're looking for a way to give back, I encourage you to learn more about their mission and consider donating. Every contribution goes directly to improving the quality of life for the people of Tagbanua. Let’s make a change together!
