Two years ago, Maelle completed a 4-month internship at COLIPI during her Master’s in Chemical Engineering at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, focusing on developing a novel yeast-based #veganmilk powder. 👀 Interested? We are thrilled to welcome a new #ClimateAction hero at COLIPI! 🚀  Meet Meyyappan Meyyappan, our Junior Strain Engineer, who will be engineering the tiny powerhouses of our #planetAteam—the #microbes—key players in building a more #sustainable future. 🦠 After graduating in #Biotechnology, Meyyappan is pursuing a Master's in #ChemicalEngineering at the Technical University of Munich, further deepening his passion for strain engineering. Working at the Microbial Biotechnology lab of Professor Bastian Blombach, sharpened his practical expertise and fueled his drive for #innovation. 🔬 Meyyappan: "Engineering microbes to convert CO2 into #ClimateOil is a groundbreaking technology that, in my view, paves the way for a sustainable #future. Strain engineering experts, startups, and investors mingled in Berlin last week at the #SynBioReactor event organized by German Association for Synthetic Biology - GASB e.V. at silent green event location. We were awarded 🏆 #1 in a pitch session where also b.fab GmbH, CELLUGY® and BioPhenolics Inc. presented among others. Our Head of Strain Engineering Nisha Agrawal and CEO Maximilian Webers had the pleasure to represent us. Dr. Andreas Worberg shared how DTU - Technical University of Denmark is becoming a role model for industrial biotechnology. It is a smart collaboration of university, Novo Nordisk Foundation, local and international stakeholders. Investors Christian Gonzalez, PhD, Maximilian Schwarz, and Peter Schmetz shared what they are looking for in startups: in early phase it is a strong team, then very soon revenue (LOIs are not enough). In addition we had the opportunity to connect with young talents that look to continue their career in a startup environment after having gained PhD and post-PhD experience in academia. Here are some of our most noteworthy moments: 🚀Moving into our very own laboratory and office space with 400 sqm, while expanding our team to 13 passionate innovators. 🏆Being honoured with the Gründerszene Impact Edition Award and Pitch-Award of EXIST Transfer of Research – a testament to the hard work and dedication of our #planetAteam. ⚙️Operationalized one of the world’s largest knallgas (H2/O2, CO2) fermenters. 🌐Connecting with brilliant minds at global and local conferences like Plug and Play GOAL (Global Overseas Acceleration & Learning), Journées Chevreul hosted by SFEL - Société Française pour L'Etude des Lipides, Hamburg Sustainability Conference, fostering meaningful collaborations (L'Oréal GREEN SCIENCES INCUBATOR), and COP29 Azerbaijan. As 2024 draws to an end, we’re taking a moment to reflect, recharge, and prepare for an even more successful 2025.
