🌍 Across #Antarctica for the #Rainforest The #ClimateCrisis is accelerating at an alarming pace. Nowhere is this more evident than in the polar regions, where ice is melting and ecosystems are at risk. Meanwhile, deforestation in the tropics continues, threatening one of our most powerful tools against climate change: #Forests. Lilith van Amerongen, a 24-year-old certified nature guide and climate activist, is taking on an extraordinary challenge to drive awareness and action. She will march alone and unsupported to the #SouthPole in 50 days, covering 1,130 km. Lilith’s expedition is collecting donations that for the Pinguin-Wald, a reforestation project in collaboration with The Generation Forest, a cooperative that transforms land in Panama into sustainable, biodiverse forests, storing CO₂, creating habitat for animals and plants, and restoring ecosystems. We believe that reforestation is more than philanthropy—it is a strategic, #NatureBased investment in planetary health. Sustainable forestry projects are a model for #ImpactInvesting: they generate financial returns while delivering measurable environmental and social benefits. Reflecting on our participation at the Economist Impact #CarbonSummit in #Amsterdam, an exceptionally curated event showcasing the rapid evolution of #CarbonMarkets. 🔍 Beyond our long-standing commitment to #NatureBasedSolutions, the summit gave us the opportunity to continue to explore further fast advancing technological solutions for #CarbonStorage such as #DirectAirCapture (DAC) and #mineralization. We feel though that the risks associated are still high, especially because scalability and efficiency remain uncertain, therefore we expect to see some successes and a wave of failures. 🔍 We also engaged with many services providers in the Carbon value chain: #Platforms, #Intermediaries and #Certification companies, as part of the infrastructure of a market in the making. There is momentum but so is the challenge, making it complex space for investors, and raising the question which will succeed, and which will struggle to deliver. 🔍 A key takeaway from our meetings with #Corporates at the event is their drive toward #NetZero goals by 2030, 2040, and beyond. Each company is developing a tailored #CarbonStrategy, integrating #TechnologySolutions throughout its value chain, and offsetting residual emissions via #CarbonCertificates, whether through the #SpotMarket or by pre-financing carbon-generating projects globally. This creates a wealth of opportunities for well-structured, high-integrity investments. 🔍 At Swiss Impact Office, the #Carbon is a key theme of our investment strategy, next to #EnergyTransition, #CircularEconomy, #SustainableFood, #SustainableAgriculture and #AccessToFinance.
