Staff Spotlight: Meet Marla, a Support Assistant with #TorontoParamedicServices. After nearly 45 years of dedicated service, Marla will be retiring at the end of this week. Many may recognize her cheerful voice from the main switchboard at our headquarters, where she has helped countless callers connect with the right people. Marla loves speaking with the public, answering inquiries, and ensuring everyone gets the assistance they need—and she finds great satisfaction when callers express their gratitude for her help.
Throughout her career, Marla has gained a deep understanding of almost every aspect of Paramedic Services. While handling increased public inquiries—especially during extreme weather or global events like the COVID-19 pandemic—can sometimes be challenging, she thoroughly enjoys the variety her role offers.
Outside of work, Marla enjoys listening to music (everything except heavy metal!) and watching comedy and thriller films. Her advice to those starting out in their careers? Be open to learning and embrace change: “Learning new skills keeps the job interesting. We are a great team.”
Congratulations, Marla, on your well-earned retirement after four-and-a-half decades of unwavering service to City of Toronto! 🥳
