  • Between 2023 to 2024, working with Youth Climate Action in Toronto at University of Toronto Scarborough, the City engaged over 800 youth between 10 to 25 to gain a better understanding on how to best support youth climate leadership, as part of our #TransformTO Net Zero Strategy. The development, funding and support of climate-centric spaces known as climate hubs was identified as one of the most important tools for youth involvement. Climate hubs could host and facilitate community level organization on justice-centered climate action. The City is exploring ways to provide a physical space for youth to convene and could be paramount for youth climate action. • Residential buildings account for 54% of Toronto’s greenhouse gas emissions in the buildings sector. To address this issue, the City is looking to expand programs to help low-rise home or building owners make energy improvements and reduce emissions. The key to reducing emissions in all buildings is through retrofits focused on improving energy performance and transitioning from gas to electric. Energy retrofit measures can seem challenging, so we want to ensure residents have the right tools, programs and support to get started. To take the survey and learn more about current retrofit support programs, visit https://lnkd.in/gpNNA-BD
